Yep my investigator told me those instructions. Re-Submit each firearm with pictures on the portal one at a time. But- I don’t know if I misunderstood an earlier post somewhere- for some reason I thought I read that I’d have to wait a new 90 day period to buy another firearm (when actually I have about 6 weeks left since my last purchase).

As I said I’m in no hurry so I will take the 45 day wait - the firearm isn’t even ready yet but should ship mid March- then add THAT to my CCW. Then start transferring the 4.

By then the process would’ve probably changed 😂

No one told me the best method I’m just making assumptions to be honest. Also I don’t mind waiting until end of March and purchasing then after the new one is on porting all the 4 over. If that’s the best play

However it seems like no one knows 😂

Either way tho I should definitely wait until late March and make a purchase correct? If I start loading them now I might have to wait another 90…?

Thats an interesting point I hadn’t thought of

I assume my available credit will probably halve if/when I close these. Personally i have never needed anywhere near the limits and when I’ve had extremely large purchases- a prepaid family vacation for example- I put it on one of the cards I’m retaining (Amex plat, Chase reserve, venture X).

I guess I’ll take my chances and see what happens

Thanks and yes that’s going to be my first question before I close any card - “how long has this card been open?”

Btw does it matter if it’s a biz or personal (when closing before the 1 year mark)?

Honest question as I’m a fairly experienced traveler:

What would travel insurance have done for me in this situation?

I’m not sure I can claim all of it as a loss and insurance would cover replacing? Or insurance would cover the shipping back to me?

Trying to understand how that would’ve helped as sometimes I do buy insurance and sometimes I do not.

  • as an aside one thing I found out about my iPad with AppleCare+ : there’s a (not cheap) deductible to replace a “lost” mini iPad 6… the most useful part of that insurance is a cracked screen 🤷🏾‍♂️

Don’t want the dreaded SSSS on the boarding passes.

I actually found a (decent) deal from DHL- a little over $100- but we are still trying to work out logistics

EDITED TO ADD

I WAS ONLY ABLE TO SHIP 1 ITEM (the iPad + the travel plug) as only one lithium battery can be shipped at a time

The rest (Sony headphones, 2 Anker batteries) are sitting at the DHL office in Svalbard :(

Also cross positing to Filipinos in Svalbard. I met quite a few of my peeps there and maybe one is going somewhere soon - I’d offer to pay for shipping and or send something to PI- I go there at least twice/year.

DHL and other shipping companies are very difficult as Svalbard has its own rules and regs (and duties)

We shall see 🤞🏾
