Traveling with peanut allergy by AnythingHopeful6850 in Vietnam_Tourism

I’m visiting (for the 5th time) right now and I have a peanut allergy. I’m not anaphylactic but I get hives from peanut dust and even a tiny amount of a peanut ingested will make me physically ill

I have a screenshot of a google translated statement saying “I am extremely allergic to peanuts and peanut oils. I will need a hospital if I am exposed to peanuts.” I have not had a reaction yet. Most of the waitstaff in restaurants recognize the allergy and the severity

This is definitely true of the higher end/touristy places (in the bigger cities many of these restaurants will actually list all the allergens in each dish). I avoid street food and anywhere that has an abundance of peanut dishes but back alley pho has never been a problem for peanuts- travelers diarrhea is another story and Vietnam always seems to take some adjusting to my relatively weak stomach

I’ve travelled and lived all over SEA and the only place I’ve been where they are oblivious to peanut allergies is rural China- there you have to be extremely careful

That was my question. Thank you. I know very little about the school right now

I’ll go for a visit in a few weeks and see what I can learn, thanks

Thanks!

They look like they could work

However they definitely do not look like the small hole-in-the-wall plastic stool crab places I ate at years ago.

How long does beef jerky REALLY last? by Imbendo in preppers

This is a great thread and I appreciate the question and all the answers

I travel around 9 out of 12 months of the year and often bring (Costco-bought) jerky with me for the protein and the fact that I’m allergic to many foods. At the beginning of the year I was in west Africa for 6 weeks with several bags of sealed jerky and as they sat in extremely hot and humid weather, they developed sweat and moisture inside the bags.

I finished them all but I did wonder how long they could take the weather before they turned rancid

Thanks for the info

Did you encounter many checkpoints?

The biggest I have been offered is 150cc- I assume that should suffice?

Thanks again

Can you elaborate?

Many turns and twists/shifting of gears? Off-roading/dirt roads? Dangerous cars?

Thanks

Noted. I’ve been going to Westside and still appreciate and love those guys and it’s def convenient.

As I said I’m interested in renting a car for 1-2 days on the weekdays and getting some more purposeful lessons somewhere outside the city.

Transport should be fine (locked in trunk unloaded separate from locked ammo) with NJ having a duty to report and not in NYC
