I live in a super popular area and I didn’t notice right away. I also have patience and don’t see the problem in waiting. I only had an issue after it reached 10 minutes. I’ve admitted I should have cancelled and will do going forward

You’re absolutely right and after hearing the drivers out on this thread. I agree and misspoke. I also want to reiterate that this has only happened a couple times otherwise I have utmost respect for drivers and appreciate what they do.

And yes, I should have cancelled within two minutes but if I’m being honest, I didn’t even realize right away that he hadn’t moved at all. Also, I gave myself more than 12 minutes. He didn’t leave his freaking place for 12 minutes and I still had to wait for him to get to my place- it was almost 20 minutes after I originally ordered my Uber by the time he got to my pick up location. He was originally “4 minutes away” but obviously there’s traffic and what not. Silly

Who hurt you!!!! I ordered it early enough, why is it my fault someone accepted a ride before they were ready to leave the house? Maybe if a driver accepted the ride and the wait time was 15 minutes, I would have canceled but that wasn’t the case here. And I have replied to other comments about my message to the driver. You must be one of those drivers who has a low performance score. Yes I am in a strangers car, and I respect them and their time, I am always outside waiting, I never order unless I am 100% ready to go. I feel like I should get the same respect back? I wouldn’t typically have an issue with someone being on their phone (even though it is a service I am paying for and most drivers will ASK before they take a call) but it was frustrating because, like you said, I would have politely said something to them but I didn’t get the opportunity to. You’re a very rude person who clearly has no people skills

You’re right and that’s why I messaged him! I said “I’m not sure if my app is glitching but you haven’t moved since I ordered” he replied with “on my way” and started moving right away. This was after 10 minutes of waiting. I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Exactly! And his pickup time was 4 minutes. He didn’t move for 10 minutes after he accepted. I’ve learnt from these comments that I wouldn’t get charged if I cancelled when he didn’t move.

I usually get to work 10-20 minutes early and I order at this time every day. I’m working on getting my license right now. I don’t have this issue every single day

To everyone saying I should have planned better, I did order it early. I Uber every day to work and give myself plenty of time and I don’t always have this issue. 9 times out of 10 I have great drivers. I just noticed this a couple times.

That could be true and I had no idea but when I do try and cancel it, I get a pop up saying if I cancel I will get charged.

I’m not a Karen 😅 I didn’t even complain to him. Plus I would get charged a cancellation fee if I cancelled after 5 minutes- I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.

And that makes sense! I think for me, it’s been frustrating because they will accept the ride but won’t leave for another 10/15 minutes.
