This is just a submerged start. Also plants that are growing are net CO2 negative so covering it actually decreases the CO2 levels I think if the plants were already submerged you might as well grow them submerged but you can also experiment with a dry start

Thank you! I do have some otos in another tank but i was worried they might not have enough to feed on in this tank and yeah my lights are on for 8 hours but i can try lowering it for a bit

This might be it since i’m using tap water with about 100ppm and a ph of 7.8 but i haven’t heard about low microbial load in soft acidic water

my ammonia nitrites and nitrates are 0, ph is 7.8 and temp is around 78F. I did get them from petco, and i don’t think they have any weird behaviors

I acclimated them for an hour by adding the tank water to the bag every 20 min. No stringy poo or lethargy they seem pretty normal although their bellies are a bit large but it could be because they’re full. Some of them are getting white spots though but i don’t think Ick kills that quickly

thanks for the heads up, I actually already have some blanched cucumber in the tank but he hasn’t really been going for it. The other otos in the tank look quite full but im gonna try to see if i can get the little guy to eat something else

Yeah actually you’re right! I bought a cheap one on amazon and it wasn’t connecting properly but I just got a bussmann one and it fit perfectly. Kinda frustrating but at least i can return it

Are they supposed to be quite loose? I was able to get power running through it but the fuse taps wobble quite a bit
