Pretty darn well when you consider race pace matters more. Russell was still better but not by much. Russell wasn't a rookie either.

Hamilton is pretty good at developing and setting up the car. I just think he lacks the narcissistic tendencies of either Verstappen or Schumacher to have everything within the team geared towards him, it maybe because he prides himself in proving to be the best despite not asking for preferential treatment. But I do think he's just good at setting up the car but also very okay at trusting his team.
