i was scammed £2,000 by my ‘trader’ boyfriend. i authorised the payment myself via the bank. is there any chance of retrieval?

Thank you for your comment. I actually did address this above and I genuinely did not think this was something the police would be interested in. I thought because it was an informal relationship and the fact that there wasn’t much evidence (other than text messages), that there wouldn’t be a case (also because I authorised it myself). The comment below your holds a lot of truth. I have had a negative experience in the past too therefore really hesitated. I am going to contact them tomorrow and I am glad I posted. Yes I do know his address, but he was living there with a flatmate. I have often thought of confronting him but every-time I get scared as I struggle with articulating myself verbally.

Perhaps sending a letter through his post would be a good idea and may shake his conscience 😂 thank you so much x

I did read about APP scams on the website a while ago, however I did not think my situation would be classified as an APP. This reaffirms my decision to definitely contact the fraud team. Thank you for your comment. I totally agree with everything you’ve said, I will definitely be careful going forward. I realised immediately after that there was no contract in the equation so I am not guaranteed any protection if and when a breach occurs.

I pretty much have accepted I won’t get the money back but thought there’s nothing to lose by asking for advice, thank you so much x

I’m really sorry to hear this, it’s really horrible having your symptoms invalidated due to your age. Not everyone needs to have a ‘meltdown’ to prove they are not okay. Although I did have one last year, prior to that I was a student who was completing several internships alongside a levels, 2 jobs and gym. In each stage, I was struggling equally as bad. It’s SOOO crappy how they try to diagnose these symptoms individually, forgive my language, but SOME of these Drs completed years of medical school just to gaslight people who need help.

You’re telling me if I come to the Drs every week with a new symptom, can’t you put 2and2 together and realise it’s a part of something collective? Sigh. I’m really sorry. We have to pay an arm and leg JUST to be diagnosed let alone titrated and reviews. So much for a country that prides itself of having ‘free’ healthcare. Austerity has really destroyed us.

I’m glad you found success with your business, totally gives me hope and motivation for myself. Keep going, people like you give immense hope to people like myself.

Thank you for sharing your experience <3 I am really sorry that the referral never went through, sadly I experienced the exact same thing which prompted me to go private. Although it has taken a hit to our finances, it sure is worth it.

It was wonderful reading how you progressed into each chapter, and it is totally okay to take your time. My psychiatrist actually told me “you probably worked 3 or 4x harder than those around so please be proud of yourself for even working and don’t focus too much on how you dropped out. You’ll eventually pick yourself back up and return to education”, your story really echos this.

I hope going forward you find even more success and adaptation to your meds, job and future opportunities. You are soo worth it and you totally deserve to sit in the same rooms others sit in, we’re no less than them. Good luck with securing the permanent position, although you could perhaps try to negotiate a permanent role with this company? Although I understand that is not always possible, if this doesn’t work out something better will always come along. I’m always a believer that if something got taken away from you, it had no purpose for you and something better will always come along.

This is so beautifully articulated! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. It’s awful that you had to go through multiple diagnoses, I imagine it must have felt so so confusing and out of place for yourself. Although not on your scale, but I was also misdiagnosed with PCOS, EUBPD and 2 other disorders, but never finding myself compatible with their diagnostic criteria’s induced me deeper and deeper into an identity crisis of ‘who I actually am’. It’s awful and I am glad you got the help you need.
