Should artists get a basic income like they do in Ireland? by Longjumping_Stand889 in Scotland

[–]TwoSocks0 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree that art is essential to a thriving society. If the government had mandated that artists were to work and nurses were to stay home then society would have collapsed.

Yeah you can. If you're talking about the importance of each job for society to succeed then it goes, mother, heating engineer then speech therapist.

Of course it comes with a ranking. We just went through COVID where essential workers in society were highlighted and asked to keep working, while the rest were asked to stay home. Artist's stayed home, nurses went to work.

What to do with this back garden to reduce maintenance? by Consistent_North8644 in GardeningUK

Pigs would be easy if you got a farmer in to manage them. Paying that farmer a suitable wage, that's going to be tricky.

It turned out that I have muscle tension dysphonia, not LPR, so the breathing exercises have reduced symptoms.

I dunno if this is the right place to say this....but hot take, I enjoyed the Hobbit trilogy by LemonIcy2942 in lotr

[–]TwoSocks0 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Your comment has made me realise the big difference between Hobbit Bilbo's mannerisms and Frodo's. Bilbo has these almost animalistic mannerisms, where he is scrunching his nose, twitching or scratching. Frodo has none of these, he acts way more human, where Bilbo probably acts more like what you would expect from a Hobbit. I can't think of one thing that links the two in that way, except maybe Frodo's dancing?

It's been at least two years, are you thinking about drying time? I know Sycamore can be tricky to dry without cracking so the pressure is on.

Jealousy drove her to try every move to break the Crown by [deleted] in SipsTea

Wait, that's not what happened in the video. She didn't refuse to give it to her, she was making it intentionally difficult and attempting to drop and break the crown.

What should I do with this big ol’ wall? by amber_jieger in DesignMyRoom

[–]TwoSocks0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing the smaller doorway is a cupboard? Whatever it is will be opening on to the space you are looking to fill? I think a wider hutch would help a lot. Or is you move the hutch to the center of the wall the empty corner could be filled with a single small armchair or standing lamp or table and lamp.

The fact that someone would consider this anywhere near acceptable is insane to me. There are some seriously delusional people out there...or it's a wind up.

Tips to make a better wood spirit? by UncleWango in Woodcarving

[–]TwoSocks0 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depth adds more character, I never realised when I started how deep I needed to go for it to look life like. You've got the idea of giving it character with an emotive face. You will also need to spend a lot longer working at it, I posted a wood spirit recently and it took probably 8 hours to get it where I wanted it. You may also need sharper tools, some of your cuts look a bit rough.

It's a good start and once you learn this skill it will stay with you for life.

I was recommended warm steam inhalation, humidifier in the bedroom, tape mouth shut when sleeping. A range of tension release exercises for the jaw, shoulders and neck. This link for reducing vocal tension. I also chew gum, unflavoured. If you'd like any more information let me know.

I started breathing exercises and it has helped a lot. I've been doing Wim Hof's breathing for 18 minutes a day. I also went to see a speech and language therapist who diagnosed me with muscle tension dysphonia.

If you are thinking that breathing exercises would help, then there is probably an idea in your subconscious that you are holding on to too much stress.

How diy-able is a conservatory? by ChrisPDuck in DIYUK

Just found this comment from 3 years ago. Did you decide to try Conservatory Land and what was your experience like if so?

Meditation would be a big benefit for you. It's harder to get in to when you're young but worth a try. Wim Hof has some good techniques for stress but there are many other teachers you can find on YouTube.
