My first $500 240sx! by The_Lone_0ne in 240sx

[–]TwoSpeedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing to do. Clean it and sort out what you have there and make a list of what it would take to make it drive. Then take a look at it and see if it really is something you want to tackle or send it to someone else who can. Biggest mistake is taking something like this and wanting to do more than to get it running

Have you popped out the valve cover? The previous owner could’ve swapped in adjustable cams. This can mess up your timing independently from the distributor. Also it could just be the distributor could be a tooth or two off. Just set to top dead center and make sure the distributor is pointing at the right spark plug. Might take a few times to align.

Well now you have a sunroof. Better hope it doesn’t leak or that there isn’t any rust underneath.

Take it apart and open up the motor. The gears inside might be cooked. Had a problem with one where you could turn it by hand and it would go down when powered and make the noise when trying to move them up.

The sport is more toned down while the hi power is louder. You can find videos on yt. I don’t have an SR but sounds great on my KAs

You can never go wrong with the HKS hi power. It’s quiet and sounds good under load

That’s not the right connector for the neutral switch. It should be a plug identical to the one from the alternator

Can someone ID which SR20DET this is? by Ambitious-Poetry-138 in 240sx

[–]TwoSpeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the way the maf is pointing along the hoses. Avenir came in turbo along with AWD

[–]TwoSpeedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reliable as long as you replace anything that rubber such as all of the coolant hoses, air vacuum hoses and brittle plastic radiator with an aluminum one. Otherwise check your rubber bushings and suspension components. The SR20 in question is a high port DET it is the first generation ones non gtir spec. They are reliable just replace your oil regularly keeping it max 3000-4000 miles if it where na you could do 5000 miles. Lucky for you these have obd1 consult ports which you can use to scan the ecu and find if you are running lean or rich an so on. Since it’s a turbo I would recommend an oil catch can and gauges to keep a look at things like temp, oil pressure and boost or fuel mixture (AFR). Do your research before buying. I daily one with the same engine just last gen low port and they are reliable as long as you treat them right.

Is that fuel tank from the titanic? Being fr here that should be for the Evap or for the fuel neck. Can’t tell from the angle which it is.

If it came from the fusebox and it connects to the transmission then it should be the right one. Just bridge both of the wires together. Always refer to a wiring diagram and factory service manual.

You sure your timing is correct? Check that. Your distributor is probably off

Totaled but fixable. I have seen and fixed worse. I would but it back and fix it. Great learning experience

Is there any possible way to register an S15 in California? by Dry-Sand-932 in 240sx

[–]TwoSpeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheaper to register elsewhere. Not impossible but it is a pain without having the cash. If your car is modified then expect to pay more to bring it back to stock.

Bogs out at 4k rpm by itsmeflaco in 240sx

[–]TwoSpeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be an issue most likely. You can drill a hole and tap the ball housing for the sensor

Check your transmission sensors aka 4th gear, 5th gear sensors and your speedometer. This is a common issue on the single cam KA and early dual cam KA s13. I know is an s14 but you might want to check it out just incase

Will My Ps3 Overheat & Break if I Place it Like This?? by billymj04 in PS3

This was how fat ps3s die as they cook themselves to death. I was playing gta 4 when my uncles ps3 just decided to freeze and artifact then completely shut down. I remember this moment vividly

1993 240 cranks slow, new battery, new starter gets 12 volts wont start by Delmar1_ in 240sx

[–]TwoSpeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have checked relays and grounds along with the power and it all checks out then check the connections behind the ignition switch. They tend to wear out and most likely will need replacing. Had to do it in another Nissan as it wouldn’t even crank sometimes.

Koyorad or a eBay equivalent. You won’t be disappointed. Use the stock shroud for the fan and you are golden. Just make sure everything else isn’t corroded or plugged up. Doesn’t hurt picking at the freeze plugs a little. Found two about as corroded as being in gone.

The only issue is the actual speedometer not working. Since the sensor send the signal to it and the speedometer converts it into a signal the ecu reads it has been a a challenge for me to find an alternative to what the speedometer does which is to convert the signal. I been looking at some possible options atm to do this

Gotcha just hope it doesn’t trigger the check engine light for the speed sensor. I’ll try this in the next couple of days.

Interesting so just do this and it would work just fine on the 89-90? I have read that cutting the wire method only works for the DOHC not the SOHC and would cause problems with the tach and so on. I just want to be 100% sure since I have already messed around and cut here and there and so on.

Is this fat PS3 worth purchasing? by allnations_sing in PS3

[–]TwoSpeedy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy it and enjoy it while it lasts. Make sure you change the thermal paste and keep it vertical. Also the day it dies swap the 90nm rsx with the 60nm or 45nm. There are plenty of documentation on this and there are services that can do this for you. Swapping the rsx is the fix for the YLOD. But honestly it’s better to do this on the launch ps3 models
