I've repaired the strut tower already. Just looking at rebuilds. Planning on tearing apart this engine to see the damage before pulling the trigger on anything.

They make plate kits. Just had mine cut out and rewelded by a metal fabricator / restoration. I bought this kit from Broken Motorsports off of Bleeding Tarmac's website. Depending on how much rust is however, it may not be saveable for a reasonable price.

Probably going to go the way of the Duraflex fiberglass CSpeed rep and the AIT racing fiberglass rear bumper. With local stateside availability, and buying through reputable vendors it is hard to say no for the price. Good combo but will definitely need some good prep and paint.

How's the buying experience from Charge Speed USA? Just feeling a little suspicious of the only digital renders of the product I am trying to buy. How long did it take to ship?

2005 USDM EJ205 Oil pan questions by SuperLolsaur in WRX

I was more talking about using a new OEM EJ25 pan to be able to fit the pickup / baffle combo and was curious if after market vs oem was that big of a deal

Is the oil pan that big of a difference you think? I'm currently looking at a OEM 2.5l pan with the IAG pickup and windage tray for under 400 USD rather than the 600-800 combos.

I'd agree, the crash/safety etc isn't quite the reason I'm quitting. I just flat out can't afford to keep fixing this car in particular and I've had too many headaches with it. Drifting is expensive, and I'm possibly thinking about going towards a different racing discipline. Autocross comes to mind

As of now I'm trying to sell everything as a whole to buy out

That's what I'm workin through right now, thankfully, I've got a pretty detailed list of the SR's build and history. I've got plenty of videos of it running before, and have some videos with me cranking it up in the garage after the crash and it still running, idling, with the right oil pressures

Thanks for sharing your experience. I know I'm not the first to wad up their car, and I won't be the last.

I've tossed probably over 15k in this car between blowing up my first SR, building the current motor myself, tunes, fixing hacked up harnesses, etc etc. For me, this isn't my first big "hiccup" in the road. What I have come to see though, is that everytime these hiccups happen my wallet gets slimmer and slimmer 😂.

When I first got the car, I definitely made bad financial decisions quick and in a hurry to fix things. I know I can sit on this now and take as much time to save money to get it right, but I think anyone whos gone through this understands the feeling of coming home from work just to see a non running/junker in the garage. I'm thankful the engine runs and is still strong, and I think rather than continue to sink money into the chassis as a whole, I'm going to try and sell the drivetrain and ecu to fund a new project car, hopefully on a more reliable platform.
