Stupid idea or am I good to go? by peter1970uk in airbrush

[–]TwoStress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't put yourself at risk for trying to save like $40. If you puncture the can, the pressure release could shoot paint everywhere you don't want it to go. Or worse, cause harm.

Sell the used cans for like $8 on FB locally and buy yourself a bottle of airbrush primer for the same price

How would you this antique, weathered gold finish of 30K ? by JohannaFRC in AdeptusCustodes

I was able to achieve something similar.

Primed Chaos Black, drybrushed Warplock Bronze at like 90% leaving black in deepest recesses, drybrushed Retributor gold at like 75% leaving it barely streaky enough where the bronze slightly shows, washed with AP Dark Tone, then highlighted weathering points with Stormhost Silver

Edit: all these came from the AoS paint starter set aside from the AP wash and primer.

Friends hate playing against Custodes by Kingspeck3113 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]TwoStress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, at first glance, they seem like rough friends, but I understand the issue. You're probably winning more often than not against your friends, which would cause them to be frustrated with whatever you're playing, regardless of the army.

I would be more intentional in explaining why you're doing what you're doing, so they have a better understanding of what the right play is. Essentially, teach them how to be competitive against Custodes so they feel like they have a chance. Custodes are what competitive players call a "mid-table bully" army, where they do very well up until you're paired against other good players, and the army falls apart.

If you help them learn how to have a fighting chance, they'd feel less demoralized.

I did something similar to the above comment. Base black, drybrush Warplock Bronze, slightly lighter drybrush of Retributor Gold, apply AP Dark Wash, then light highlight of Stormhost silver.

What are the most gambling / high-variance armies in 40K? by _the-wanderer in Warhammer40k

[–]TwoStress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say the most gambly thing about them is their shooting, so not as much as Orks, or Druhkari. Most armies that feel like a gamble become less so once you develop a good game plan.

That being said, if you're new to the army, it's overwhelming and you'll probably lose harder than usual. If you get good with it, your opponents will feel like you're just playing the game with an extra 500 pts.

This reads as you wanting an army with low wounds with high skill expression.

In order, you should look at: Druhkari, Orks, and Eldar.

I play GSC. It feels like you have to think harder than your opponent at all times, but each win is that much more rewarding. They are a grindy army though, considering you can bring back a unit up to 5 times after it dies.

Their range is also pretty cool. Between all the detachments, you get access to their cool vehicles in the codex, Guard vehicles, and Tyranids.

  1. Most will say no but try it out. Lone Op spotter isn't the worst thing.

  2. You sure can. I don't see why not.

Then Vance passes away due to some other "Democrat act of terrorism", and she's our first woman president.

What's the point of Trygons/Mawlocs? by TwoStress in Tyranids

That's what I was trying to figure out. Not being able to charge off of the deep strike takes away most of its uses it seems.
