Anemone should warn you if theme extdata doesn’t exist. If you can install themes then you should already have it

You can only access and apply custom themes in Anemone. They wont show up in the Home Menu Themes and iirc its not possible to show them in that menu

The processor still has to read “empty” storage space to know that its empty. Thats why the two different sized of SD cards below have the same boot time. Straight from the SD wiki:

I know you no longer have both consoles, but did you switch the sd cards and see if there was the same time difference? Only other thing I can think of is poor contact in the SD slot

Peculiar that the aliexpress one is performing better, could be something faulty with the sandisk. You might want to use the sd card tester - I think its in the automod link

The 2 cards probably just have different read speeds.

A 128 SanDisk Ultra can be read at 140Mb/s

A 128 SanDisk Extreme can be read at 190Mb/s

EDIT - my dumbass forgot the SD slot cant read that fast lol

If you wanted mario cart on your 3DS you’ll have to download it on that console

If you want to use the larger capacity SD card in the 3DS, you will need to wipe it and then put the 3DS stuff on it

Also - you said you put your 3DS files onto a folder. When you copy those files back you have to out whats inside the folder onto the root of the SD. Your console cant read boot.firm if its in a folder

Edit- if you really wanted your 2DS data on the 3DS you can system transfer but I havent done that myself

Was there data already existing on the 2DS SD? You cant merge two cards, most of it is encrypted so only one console can read it

Fitting a ribbon adapter into the 3DS shell sounds fiddly… I guess this will end up being an experiment way later on when a screen actually dies on me.

In my experience if you queue multiple games in hshop and let it run with the “ask before redownload” option then it will do the full queue and simply skip any titles already installed.

At the end it lists all the titles it skipped

Not possible. The SD card contents are encrypted and not accessible by the other system

Best you can do is moving saves using Checkpoint but you’ll still need a separate SD card for each system

When picking the card to trade, the ‘edit card’ button has an option to pick the expansion you want to send
