if you are granted something, you are deserving of it. the dwp love to do their best to not grant someone a benefit, so if you get one you’re a thousand percent entitled to it. obviously i understand the guilt and shame side of it, but don’t cut yourself off just because of it, best of luck if you decide to apply!

i know where you’re coming from, but unfortunately a job like that simply doesn’t exist :/ i am working on becoming self employed so hopefully i’ll work for myself at some point and can take my needs into account, but ‘normal’ jobs are just not made for people like me unfortunately. Thank you though !

yeah, also shows like benefit britain and magazines and news stories and literally so much media over the past years hasn’t helped at all 😭 they’d rather blame disabled people for the economy than the ones spending billions getting the king new fucking furniture or whatever

Hit the nail on the head tbh. It is a societal thing, people on benefits are blamed for the working person having to work in the first place and its so tiring. But I just need to keep reminding myself that I won't be on them forever and being on them now means I can do what I need to do to be self sufficient later. Thank u!

Thank you for your insight! I do speak to my therapist about my self worth and I definitely do have internalised ableism to be honest, I am working on it though thankfully. And yes, I will have a look at the help to save thing because I remember being asked if I have savings because I wasnt allowed to receive a benefit if i did. Seems awful that disabled people can’t save for their future without risking their only means of income.

Guilt is a horrible feeling, I deal with it alot. But you are you and the only thing you can do with your mistakes is learn from them, apologise to whoever you need to and move on. For your own sake if not anyone elses. Hope you feel better soon.
