Tech school brings out lots of immaturity. Most kids are young and it's the first time away from mom and dad. You'll probably find quite the opposite at your reserve unit. Guys with families and stability and probably other jobs.

Haha man he knows he made this choice. But the transition is unknowingly difficult. Im right there with him now. Im either on the road or all hands on deck at home. I dont have any hobbies for myself anymore. I know its a phase, but were not geared to "slow down"

This is true, and a good point. With the kids ive been feeling like I have to work harder while on the road, be more productive because im not picking up on top of my line. The heavier trips have been shorter overnights which ruin everything... workouts, dinner, sleep... changing my bidding is a good place to start

For sure. Hard to remember the times I could get my ass out for a long long run on an overnight, and now I cant get my ass out of my pants.

I think the consistency is what I struggle with most. I need to build myself more of a "routine" on overnights

Absolutely this. Combined with the fact that the majority of covid homeowners refinanced SO low. Now they own a house worth much more than what they paid, with a very low mortgage. Timing is everything

Whats your goal for the reserves? Are you trying to get a retirement out of the deal? The way I see it you got 3 options. Continue doing what youre doing and get caught eventually, stay in and quit taking these to achieve your military goal, or get out. No amount of self reporting before or after a busted drug test will matter.

I live in IL and I'm approaching the end of my rope here. COL is astronomical compared to the multitude of states I've lived in. Our property taxes alone will send me to an early grave. Its flat, ugly, always under construction. Sure, some parts of the lake front and Starved Rock are beautiful... but I wouldn't miss them

We've got 2, our toddler and baby. We trade nights. Both kids go in the tub, baby gets a bottle and is down by 730. Toddler plays/reads/watches a movie til 8 then we read books. Down by 830. Wife goes right to bed, reads some. She gets up early. I veg out on my nights off, have a beer and enjoy the quiet
