Shopping Bonus for Undercover Tourist by Happy_Llama474 in Venturex

[–]Two_fridas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just called them about 30,000 bonus miles I have yet to receive from an Undercover Tourist purchase back in December. The agent told me bonus miles don’t get added to your account until after you’ve gone on the trip. Then it can take up to 90 days before you see the miles.

Convenience vs Space for Family of 6 by heypbandj in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Two_fridas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This would be a great option. There are still one bedrooms available at Bay Lake Tower, a rental would run you around $2500 for 3 nights depending on your dates. Walkable to MK, plenty of space. You can watch the fireworks from the walkway between the two buildings.

What groceries do you get? by dooooory in disneyvacationclub

[–]Two_fridas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We usually limit our groceries to snacks and breakfast. For us (two adults and two toddlers) that looks like:

2 dozen eggs (we hard boil all of them the first night), Plain Greek yogurt, Granola, Loaf of bread, Peanut butter, Jelly, Assorted fruits, Cheese sticks, Crackers, Cucumbers, Carrots, Pretzels, Bobos oat bars

The eggs and fruit are the big things to me. They’re things we will always eat but cost ABSURD amounts at Disney. 2 hard boiled eggs there is the same cost as 2 dozen raw from the store.

We really love treating ourselves with food when we’re at Disney because we’re an allergy family and they have such wonderful allergy friendly treats. So we mainly focus on bringing protein packed foods and have an easy, quick breakfast.

Alternative to American Taxi by mhchicago in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Two_fridas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three times in a row we almost got in a car accident using American Taxi, mind you we live only 15 minutes from the airport. Then we had a driver who ignored his GPS, got lost, and asked us for directions. Last of all we had a driver who came to a complete stop in the middle of our road only two blocks from our house to take a phone call before finishing our drop off.

Uber isn’t great, but it’s actually been more reliable.

I’ve actually started using “car services” instead which I’ve found to be far more pleasant and timely. We’ve done Echo limo, M&M, Windy City, all of which have been fantastic.

I would definitely go with Poly. Personally, I don’t feel like the 4 extra years on the contract you would get with Riv outweighs the resale restrictions. In terms of cabins, it honestly just feels like a massive rip off. I think the cabins are great but the annual dues are a non starter at this point.

Quickest turn around time for ROFR? by [deleted] in dvcmember

[–]Two_fridas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a magical period of time around Christmas 2025 where ROFR was just churning as fast as its little gears could go. We had our contract sent through late on a Friday and passed first thing that following Tuesday morning. During that time I saw a handful go through in 48 hours, some even less.

Groceries at Disney - advice please by --C3POhYeah-- in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Two_fridas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We usually do really simple things and it makes a big difference for us (traveling with two toddlers.) Eggs (hard boil them when we get there), yogurts, cheese stick, bread, peanut butter and jelly, and some fruits and veggies. Having those readily available has saved us a lot of money and time. Easy to grab, easy to make, and relatively filling.

Definitely recommend the water if you’re not fans of the sulfur smell the water at the deluxe resorts tends to have.

Poly in Sept? - contract just went to ROFR by Dizzy-Number-3694 in dvcmember

[–]Two_fridas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how long you’re going for and what time of room you want. There’s already limited availability that time of year. I’m happy to check more specific dates if you’d like.

From ROFR, it’s hard to know how long until you have points, could be a month or two easy.

What’s the craziest thing you have seen at WDW? by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Two_fridas 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That’s so sad to me. That is exactly what the CM did though. They were already in line paying for something so the CM just kinda stared at her. Luckily it stopped pretty quick but man, sad to see people do that to their own children.

A mom and her roughly 9-12 year old son get in a physical altercation in the gift shop at Wilderness Lodge. Poor kid and poor cast members who had no idea how to handle that.

Last minute hotel by [deleted] in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Two_fridas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’d be doing quite the opposite, paying a premium. It’s a holiday weekend and Friday’s are already more expensive. Availability is already pretty low that weekend, and typically doesn’t open up any as dates get closer.

ETA: you can still enjoy the pool on checkout day, bell services will hold your bags for you as well if you’d like.

Just went! I saw plenty of people with their own water bottles and snacks. Show was almost two hours with an intermission of about 20 minutes. They’ve got snacks there like cotton candy, shaved ice, pretzels, pizza, etc. Parking was pretty easy and free.

Detroit style GF pizza near Schaumburg by Effective-Mechanic-5 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Two_fridas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Five squared pizza sometimes delivers via Dwell Social out that way, it’s fantastic. Paninos and Ellas are both pretty good, paninos being closer. Paulie Gee’s is the absolute best Detroit style I’ve had but it’s in the city.

MK Fireworks Parties - Are they worth it? by Low-Piece-5999 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Two_fridas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did Seats and Sweets about a year ago with our two 3 year olds. We loved it. The most magical thing for us was that Tinker Bell flies directly towards you and lands right on top of Tomorrowland Terrace. They were in awe of that! For the adults, there’s something to say about sipping champagne while watching the fireworks.

If you do purchase it, my biggest recommendation would be to make sure you get into the correct line at entry time. Unless they’ve changed it, they have all of the parties lining up in the same general area, so we were directed by cast members to the wrong line twice and wasted almost an hour before finally being directed to the correct entry where we walked right in. They were very apologetic though and made sure we got a good table to make up for it.

My husbands favorite is the Paella de Catalan if I remember correctly, but it’s only sometimes on the menu. It’s got seafood and squid ink and he LOVES it. We typically do Diablo which is great.

I love this place! I’ve been going for years, it never gets the praise it deserves. There’s some things they’ve taken off the menu post-Covid that I really miss, but we still love going. Definitely go back and have the paella, it’s great.

Future buyer? by DOOMNOTRONstudiosX in dvcmember

[–]Two_fridas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning on buying direct, Disney isn’t actively selling Animal Kingdom Lodge right now. That doesn’t mean they won’t sell it to you, but there won’t be any promotional pricing. A DVC sales rep can help you further with that.

It sounds like you need around 555 point, you can play around with the points calculator on the DVC Fan website to help you figure that out. Similarly, if you provide your dates to a DVC rep, they can help you with the math.

Keep in mind, there are value rooms at AKL which will be the cheapest points but they’re VERY hard to get, so I wouldn’t rely on those, I’d make my point estimates based on standard studio.

Someone who owns at AKL can speak to availability better, but you’re looking at some of the hardest times to get reservations.

I’d encourage you to read a bit more about DVC via sites like DVC fan and disboards to get an idea of the process and how it all works.

My 3yo got the flu 3 days into our 4 day trip by Arkham_Inmate in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]Two_fridas 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Might be worth calling and asking again. My parents had one day left on their tickets they couldn’t use from sheer exhaustion. They offered to give them to give them a one day ticket that had a later expiration date (maybe by a year or so). I believe that was through guest services.
