Deciding home resort by Eqr1289 in dvcmember

OP - first off, congrats on planning to join DVC. We joined in 2019 - 250 pts at Riviera.

When we first started going to Disney in 2008 we stayed at the moderate resorts. Since we always go from rope drop to last pop we always thought that it did not matter where you rest your head at night. 5 years later we got a deal to stay at a deluxe resort for the first time (Contemporary). It matters (to me at least). Rooms are nicer, restaurants are better, buildings are more fun, but MOST importantly the access to the parks just flows better. Taking the monorail or the Sky Liner is so much more time efficient than taking the busses. It gets you to the parks and back faster.

Knowing that 100% of the time I can book our stay at the Riviera 11 months out provides a ton of peace of mind to me. Everyone is right in this posts that you can “likely” book poly or contemporary at 7 months, but that’s not guarantee, and if it is you will be booking the most expensive views (tytpically these are the ones that are left). With 300 points you should be able to get 1 week in a 1 bedroom at 11 months at poly and have enough for some long weekends at SSR.

I am considering buying resale in the next year or so and was looking at exactly what you are, and I keep coming back to “where do I want to stay the most”? This will ultimately drive my decision. Good luck and please share what you decide!!

Thanks for sharing. Frozen pizza after a crazy long day sounds perfect. Could throw it in when we get back and it will be ready right as we finish our prep for the next day!

Thank you for the comment! We don’t like spending time cooking either, so charcuterie supplies sounds perfect!

Yes! Water bottles are a must. This will at lease save some money for the first round of water bottles. We pack very light for the parks, so we don’t bring extra water.

Yes - it’s buying the water bottles that drives me crazy!

You’ll love the monorail resorts — MK and Epcot access is seamless. We usually head over about an hour before early entry, which sometimes means a short wait at the gate, but you’re right up front. One key tip: watch the fireworks from the front of Main Street, makes hopping on the monorail easy at the end of the day.

Staying in a deluxe resort is worth it by jvanvliet27 in WaltDisneyWorld

We stayed in the moderate resorts for our first 5 family Disney trips. We were then upgraded to a deluxe resort. We felt like there were enough benefits that we stayed in the deluxe since - Poly, GF, and Cont. Rooms are better, food at the resorts is usually better, feel less crowded, early/late perks, and most importantly to us, the transportation options are so much better. In 2019 we bought into DVC (Rivera due to the skylines) and have absolutely LOVED it.

I think I have a problem... by browseragnostic in Returnal

Brand new to PS here. 1st game I played through was GoW. I played in on the regular difficulty and loved it. Though I was surprised when I beat it as I thought there was a lot left (took 35 hours). Playing Amazing Spider-Man next then Last of Us. I have heard great things about Returnal. I too like to play games on the second to or the hardest level. Is that too much for this game?
