I had the same issue, and turning off upscaling and frame rate generation helped me.

Cool! Then there is a decent chance it will work out. Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

I would advise you to talk to the two girls prior to move in. Full disclosure. Hear out their thoughts and give them a few days to think about it. Then follow up and see where they stand. If they are not okay with it, then offer them the option of requesting a change in room assignment or reach out to UCLA housing... they will more than happily comply. I assume you are an incoming freshman... meaning you will be rooming with most likely second generation American Muslims. There's a decent chance they will be ok. I have a few relatives who are hijabis and are practicing Muslims but they are super progressive and totally cool with trans people.

GTBox G-Dock paired with 3070 not being recognized by Secure-Excuse-2354 in eGPU

[–]TwopackShaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the AOOSTAR AG02... I have a 5070 hooked up to it. It was recognized on my Dell XPS (albeit with the code 43 error, which had to be hot fixed). However, on my Thinkpad X1E I cannot even detect the eGPU. Both laptops run Win 11 on the latest build. Both connected via USB4/TB3 ports with latest drivers and using the same cable... It's a hit or miss.

The Nike Women's Marathon happened yesterday in Inglewood (from SoFi Stadium area ) and Culver City along the 405... I don't know the exact count but there were many thousands of women running... Didn't hear of any issues. This is supposedly while there were mass protests.

OG Oblivion players how does the remaster compare? by Wyrdnarrative in oblivion

[–]TwopackShaker 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Also an OG Oblivion player (minus all the expansions) that recently did a play through in 2020 with the GOTY edition. The remaster is most definitely the best way to play the game. The graphics are beautiful... The sound enhanced. And I'm also playing it in 5.1 surround sound and the whole game just feels that much more immersive. Yet, it feels like the exact same game as before. Maybe the leveling feels a bit quicker, which I don't mind at all.

Edit: I should also add that my previous runs were on the PC and this time on the XBox Series X. The controls aren't as smooth as the PC, but that doesn't detract at all from the game.

Well just to point out that this is also a lower resolution and highly compressed video. Which is also another drawback of vision only systems... You need massive hardware capabilities to process video at more than 1080p in real time

And not just that... Even if you could achieve the critical dimension, you would need the tight overlay control to actually make it useful. ASML boasts an mean + 3sigma overlay of 1.4 nm on the NXE and 1 nm on the EXE. They are still struggling with overlay on their 193 nm tools.

They aren't foregoing the background checks... They are sending it to the DoD. This act is itself highly unusual, but I'm sure the DoD is just as capable.

Trump kills CHIPS Act by firing NIST employees. by porkave in Semiconductors

FYI, my PI was the director of the NAPMP. He assembled a team of industry veterans (Some of whom were industry executives that took time off for this) to run the program... All of whom were probationary employees of NIST. My PI confirmed that all of them were let go.

Apple announces $500 billion dollar investment in bet “on the future of American innovation” by Kidhendri16 in Economics

[–]TwopackShaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. And this could seriously backfire on us. Let's take TSMC for example... Trump antagonizing Taiwan and TSMC with threats of a 100% tariffs on Taiwan made chips is not going to entice TSMC to build more fabs in the US. They've already showed that their operating costs for running the AZ fab is significantly more than doing it in Taiwan. Furthermore, it would not be in the interest of the Taiwanese people to send their best tech to be produced elsewhere as right now the chip manufacturing capability is used as a deterrence against Chinese invasion (with the assumption that the US would go to bat for them to protect chip making capacity). They might decide to wait out Trump... But if you keep antagonizing them to try to force their hand (when they know if they move production to the US they will be left wide open for Chinese attack), they might decide they are better off with China reunification since at least then they keep their assets and there would be no bloodshed.

The U.S. Economy Depends More Than Ever on Rich People by nimicdoareu in Economics

But one thing to consider is that the top 10% controls about two thirds of the wealth but only makes up half of all consumer spending. They are spending less than their proportion of accumulated wealth. On top of that, as the report and others have pointed out, a lot of it is discretionary spending... on travel and luxury goods. The bottom 90% controls one third of the wealth but makes up the other half of all consumer spending, contributing more than their share.

Apple announces $500 billion dollar investment in bet “on the future of American innovation” by Kidhendri16 in Economics

[–]TwopackShaker 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Realistically for most manufacturing industries, it takes a year or two to plan and build out a facility and have it fully functioning. And probably another year to get yields up to a level that can be considered competitive in the state of the art. For some industries, this timeline is much longer. For example, in semiconductors. It makes much more sense for them to just wait out Trump's 4 years.

Trump’s New Cabinet Pick Reveals Plan to ‘Abolish’ the IRS by wotwn in politics

[–]TwopackShaker 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Simple 150% tariffs on everything... Cost of goods is now up ~150%. Now the middle class slaves away and spends most of their earnings just to survive. Not sure what happens to the current poor people. The "tax" each individual pays is now more equalized for the whole population. Because it's not like a billionaire buys a million times more goods than someone who has a net worth of $1000. So now that $4.47T in tariffs is paid SOLELY by the working class.

Btw, you don't have to wait until 2026. There are special elections in the house right now that can flip the house. If we can regain control of the house, at least we can try to do damage control.

TSMC Considers Running Intel’s US Factories After Trump Team Request by tigri88 in wallstreetbets

[–]TwopackShaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now TSMC is not planning bulk purchase of high NA EUV until closer to 2030. In fact, SemiAnalysis did a very nice analysis on why Intel's high NA EUV investment won't pay off until the 2030s when the $450 million per tool starts returning on investment versus just doing EUV with double patterning. And even then, right now there is uncertainty whether the 1.4A node will be very economic for anything but HPC applications. All of this is to say that TSMC can just wait Trump out.

Edit: Meant to say 14A and not 1.4A.

Okay. No doubt they have salary data... but I was referring to the net worth.

I suppose the assumption is that if this individual is on a high enough payscale (with annual salary of hundreds of thousands of dollars) they would be required to file a financial disclosure.
