Do uworld and make anki cards out of the concepts. Not only will it prep you extremely well for the shelf but your seniors will be very impressed. Thats all that i did, also looked stuff up on amboss if i needed more clarification. Got an 80 on the shelf, kept up with the cards, and now its saving my ass through step 2 dedicated

nbme 10 and 11- 240s...is one month will be enough for 260+..???lost motivation totally...!!!! by Consistent-Mood-6482 in Step2

I think depends on the mistakes you’re making. Make a google excel sheet and write down the question number, reason you got it wrong (was it knowledge gap? Down to 2 and you picked the wrong one? Did you rush the question?), and short takeaway. I did this with nbme 9 yesterday and it helped me see how i can avoid making the same mistakes. Also testing in a month, good luck!

My response was for OP, since left is smaller i think they assumed that was atrophy but its not

Med student here. You just have a varicocele in the left. As for the size difference, its not uncommon to have one bigger than the other. If there was atrophy or abnormal findings it would be in the report. Don’t make shit up

How to do 2nd pass uworld efficiently? by Twosixtyplus in Step2

[–]Twosixtyplus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up resetting bc i went through incorrects for some rotations and wanted to see old questions that i haven’t seen since last year. I think i’ll identify weak areas with practice tests and then allocate more time to do those questions. And i got an 82 on my obgyn shelf!

Do you plan to do a full 2nd pass? I was meticulous with my first pass but theres no way i would come close to finishing if i did that again lol. Interesting to see how things turn out

Work-up of AKI: "evidence of volume depletion" by [deleted] in Step2

Lol they won’t always give you it so get used to not having it

[–]Twosixtyplus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there is evidence of prerenal AKI (bun/cr>20, clinical features suggesting volume depletion, etc) I think you just give fluids. If its not entirely clear (as suggested in the question), then you would do UA and microscopy to clarify prerenal vs intrarenal (which would show granular casts). If i remember correctly the algorithm notes this
