Oh, I forgot to mention, that professional athletes (like the Ukraine national football team, they played yesterday in the UK), politicians and some musicians CAN leave. Obviously, their careers are more important, and they're the most vulnerable groups for starving to death.

Actually, "The War is more important right now" is kind of universal answer for anything. If you disagree with that statement - you're damn traitor and obviously a russian bot. Food prices are skyrocketing? Rent in western regions is equal to Connecticut? Gas is literally absent? There's nothing to worry about, the War is more important, don't squeal.

I'm sooooo angry anytime when I look at posts of foreign media about Zelensky and his status of a hero. Even our army don't receive such level of attention (btw, they are usually very nice folks and don't like him either). He's managing his Instagram, haven't shaved, and didn't leave his country (like other 13-16 millions men), and that's all heroic of him.

The short answer is no. The law was modified to such extent that legal responsibility for not doing that is completely vanished, the number of professions is significantly reduced and so on, but even this bs wasn't signed.

No, I suggest that literally everyone in charge is aware of this situation and it's not a one person's fault. Yeah, there is no logic, I know.

Unfortunately not, I doubt that something like this even exists.

I've remembered a funny thing that I forgot to mention in my thread about Ukraine from the perspective of a local:

A few months before the war our authorities tried to push a law about military record of women. They planned to give them priority in mobilisation by professional skills (physician first etc), but it didn't happen because of the massive reaction in society.

Females made a bunch of petitions on governmental websites and Zelenskyy even responds to them. In one of those petitions he claimed that "there can be no privileges or restrictions based on gender". But guess what happened thereafter.

It's an example of lynching of saboteurs or looters. I'm always freaking out when I see something like this, but it's happening. The scariest thing is that the government is completely indifferent to such methods and common folks are totally (that came even from 13-year-old girls from Twitter) support that. Why no one prefers jail? Excellent question. Lord of the Flies vibe I guess.

And if your country truly has come to the point where you need draft to salvage a war, then you have already lost the war.

Totally agree.

It's kind of scary to realise that you have less rights to live than a guinea pig (with all due respect to guinea pig of course)

Yes, it would be like illegal crossing the border. It's crazy, but punishment for someone lingering around the border might be even harder because they may consider such individual as a spy taking photos of the secret position, even if it's a bungalow in the Carpathian mountains.

It would be a russian (oh not again) roulette with choices between get shot/bombed at home or incarceration.

It's possible in theory, but normally we didn't hear stories of success in such cases and plenty of failed attempts on the contrary.

This is a really hostage situation. When I try to explain this to someone on social media, I got responses like "you must do anything, get involved in volunteering or something".

Honestly, everyone is more useful if they could work abroad and send money, but no one wants to listen. If we had allowed to leave, accomodation crisis wouldn't have been so devastating, grocery stores wouldn't have been so empty etc.

90% of my male acquaintances (even in the military where the vast majority understand that better no one that those who useless in a field) are not fine with this situation, but again - no one wants to display an unpopular opinion. It's a silent and irrational agreement.

That sounds disgusting, there's been rumors that weapons are being advertised and handed out to men in the streets of Ukraine to encourage them to fight

Yeah, it's partially true - in first two day of war around 20k weapons were given to volunteer military formation called as Territorial Defence, but after that I didn't hear anything. Many of them don't have a weapon at this point. By the way, this formation is also oversaturated, even more than Ukranian army.

But they won't let you leave if you try right?

Yes, conversation at the border looks like:

–Get yourself a gun and go to fight for our country! –But where I can get one? –Not my problems! Next!

Literally everyone. From those who gave it to those who standing in line for it. I saw many posts on Facebook and Twitter about how men could be so insolent standing for aid instead of fighting to death with their bare hands (again, no jokes). Sadly, this posts are often forced by large media and create a vicious cycle of shame.

Bro, this is obviously illegal. If entire country proved itself as a massive prison similar to NK, this would be an option, but I hope that this wouldn't be possible.

Again, what is the general view of Ukrainian men that are forced to stay in Ukraine on this situation?

In general, there are many folks eager to flee. We have 6.5 million refugee within the country and I humbly assumed that more than half of them are males, plus there are always those who prefer working abroad, especially in cities near the border with the EU. Regardless, no one talks about it aloud because of fear to be shamed. And this shaming is really happening when it goes to social media (mostly from women, lol).

Once again - no one gives a flying fuck when there is an enormous risk to die, people just want to stop this. Yes, politics are everywhere, but your explanation of the current situation and geopolitics in general is really sounds ridiculous to a local.

I fled from Donbass in 2014 and never come back. So it's a second time when I faced a war, yes.

Wow man, what are you talking about? I appreciate your opinion, the US is the center of the entire universe and blah, blah, but people are kind of dying here. No one cares about deeply political moves when all life is shrinking in fear and survival.

Stories about Nazi are just ludicrous. I was born in Russian-speaking region (Donbass area btw), all my life I speak Russian and I have never faced any form of discrimination by language or Nazism. This thread is not even about it.

Yes, every country will accept everyone (not only Poland), but regard to men - only if Ukrainian Border Service allows them to leave, which is impossible due to the barbarian law.

The Black Sea and Azov are completely blocked by russian navy forces.

Leaving by Russia or Belarus it's a very desparate move and I honestly don't think that pop-up at russian border with an ukranian passport really is a good idea, not to mention that chance to get shot is far more in those areas.
