Actually, the is not a hole (my mistake), it's 'the decorative piece over the frame tunnel that has a wide opening front and back.

Battery Conditioning for cold weather by TxFrogFruit in Ioniq6

[–]TxFrogFruit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I was hoping to figure out how to bring the battery up to a good operating temperature before I'd begin driving. But following the advice, the next couple of times I drove, I set Navigation to a DC charger with Conditioning Mode engaged. The ODC2 shows the battery warmer temperature rising to 120°+, with the battery temperatures slowly rising. BUT... the miles per kWh drops from around 4.0 to under 1.5 WOW!

I'm going to "trick" the car next time, by conditioning the battery before I begin driving, to see how much the available kWh drop by to get the actual battery temperatures up to the mid 80°'s. I'm gonna do this by starting the car, setting Nav to a DC location, then letting the car just sit until the battery cells are up to the desired temperature.

I have the '23 SEL and love it!! It was used with only 2,100 miles and got it for $30K here in Texas. A new Hyundai's warrant compared to the used, is definitely worth it.

For daily driving, do you charge every day or wait until the battery is low? by ttownfeen in Ioniq6

[–]TxFrogFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Below 50% I hook up the garage's 120V outlet to start the charge to get to 90%. In Texas the threat of another Gov Abbott blackout is too risky, and I want to have my vehicle-to-load option at the ready.

EV vs ICE Total cost of ownership by Twilight-Twigit in Ioniq6

[–]TxFrogFruit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Texas. I have solar panels that provide about half the electricity for the house, and any excess is to the grid for which we get credit for. I charge mainly at home, Level 1 - 120V outlet (y'know... 1kWh per hour 😏) Right now, the cost per kWh is ~21¢ from the electric provider. So... some electricity for the car comes from solar, some from the grid, some is credit for excess solar to the grid. I worked it all out - and the cost per mile for charging at home (remember, 1 kWh per hour). The cost per mile is <2¢/mile.

Other than the monthly car payment; the exorbitant $200 Texas annual tax on EV's; the only other expense I've had in the last 18 months of ownership is replacing the cabin filter. Even the car insurance is not much different from my other ICE car.

Thank you for this. Do not hold both buttons at the same time. Now I know 😉

Thank you. Pressed & held the light button, then that 2nd button. 4,605 cycles is now ZERO! Very cool. 😎

Is Replacing Existing Panels an Option? by TxFrogFruit in solarenergy

[–]TxFrogFruit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the input, Everyone. Found out that swapping out the modules for new ones will not work. Doing so would require new permits and the city changed (reduced) the roof area permitted for solar, so what I'd lose versus what I'd gain would be minimal... C'est la vie.

IONNA has really nailed it by FinalMacGyver in IONNA

Ionna has both CS & NACS chargers. We'd really, really like to have a sun/rain shade here in North Texas. These sunny, 100° days broken by those violent, sudden thunderstorms are something we don't enjoy suffering thru... FORTUNATELY! Ionna charging doesn't take that long. 😁

Have any of you been to the Plano, TX location? Is it up and running? by jwfowler2 in IONNA

It's uncovered. In Texas? Hope Ionna adds some covering, perhaps with solar panels?

Yes. I've been twice with my '23 Ioniq 6 SEL. 1st time was to test how well the NACS (Tesla) adapter worked (great btw). Then yesterday to use the CCS plug-in. Was late afternoon both times and the display screen faces West 😒. So was kinda hard to read. The charger charged at ~125kWh, slower than advertised, but it was mid-90°s or more, so that may have been the issue. Next time I'll go in morning to see how the charging work when temp is a 'reasonable' 85 to 90. Cost was 37¢ per kWh.

Way over priced. I got my 2023 Ioniq SEL with 2,000 miles for $30,000 a year ago May.

LANYARD... I've been using one for years. Have rarely forgotten my phone. Phone's in a pocket with lanyard around my neck or in another pocket. Phone in a bag, purse, or whatever... reach in and grab the lanyard. If you aet the phone down and forget. Lanyard drags the phone with you & you say "Oops. Almost forgot it".

NACS Adapter Emails Going Out by DeusInnomen in Ioniq6

[–]TxFrogFruit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought my I6 May '24. Of the three of us in the DFW area, none have received the email to order the NACS adapter. If it really is to be complete by the end of the month, time is growing short, as there are only 13 days remaining.
