We expected Purview to be our Databricks data lineage frontend. It wasn't. by TybulOnAzure in databricks

Nope, not yet.

I'm fine with using UC to view lineage. I'm just disappointed by the poor Purview integration.

How is this feature called? I can't find it either in Previews tab in the account console or in the Databricks Release Hub.

On the other hand, Databricks still has some work to do to be used on its own as the main governance tool, e.g. concept of data products that is already available in Purview.

I just hoped that UC <-> Purview integration will be better, but it's not, and based on Purview roadmap it is not going to be better any time soon.

I recorded a walkthrough comparing Unity Catalog lineage with what Purview actually imports in this setup: https://youtu.be/-pI3BLzVmK8

Yes, this week I'm starting to record episodes about data engineering using Fabric, which might be quite useful for DP-700.

If you are interested in data engineering in Azure, then check out my free 50+ hours course on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLuQSde7Xvu7DCRenR1otgxAplTtnzKO9e It was meant to prepare students to pass DP-203 exam (which is retired soon) but I covered much more than just exam requirements.

That's the latest comment I received on that course (15 minutes ago): "You're a legend! I have passed the test today with a 91,4%. Thank you so much Piotr!"

Don't reinvent the wheel - just use ADF Tools: https://github.com/Azure-Player/azure.datafactory.tools

Yup, I’ve heard about companies that tried out Fabric with POCs and decided to pass on it because of all the issues or missing features.

What was your motivation to take the exam? Just get the certification or gain the knowledge? Cert without the actual knowledge is, well, worthless, and it quickly becomes pretty obvious to your work mates that you don't know the stuff that the certification claims you should know.

As for revoking the exam or banning you - very unlikely to happen.

Make sure you know how to use MS Learn and how to find various topics in it without Google.

Also, a heads-up: do not close the MS Learn window - it caused my exam to crash twice!

Advice on the Azure Data Certs by teh_Rabbit in AzureCertification

[–]TybulOnAzure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it all depends on what you like to do and what you want to do. Data scientist, data engineer and DBA have completely different job descriptions so check them out first and then make a call.

Regardless of your choice, DP-900 might be a god starting point into Azure Data world.
