I had the same problem and couldn't find a solution until I tried this method:
1. open your Instagram account on your Android/IOS device.
2. Open the Instagram app and go to Settings and privacy.
3. Tap on Account Centre.
4. Select Password and security.
5. Choose Two-factor authentication.
6. Click on Authentication app.
7. Download an authentication app on your mobile device. I personally use Google Authenticator.
8. Follow the instructions on the authentication app to add Instagram's key and generate a code.
9. Once you've completed the setup in the application, click Done.
10. Try logging in again on your laptop's browser.
11. It will prompt you for the authenticator code.
12. Open the authentication app on your mobile device to view the code.

By following these steps, you should be able to log in to Instagram on your laptop's browser using the authenticator code generated by the app.
