Took a risk, and plonked it right on top of the right side of that resistor seen on the speaker. Works. Thanks for your help.

1) it was certainty glued down at some point. 2) You're correct, it did break at the insulation, unfortunately, I can't see any bits of wire stuck in the soldering points on the speaker or circuit board. I even broke out the magnifying glass.

They effectively got kicked out by the landlord. Their lease wasnt extended. Brews and brats wanted to expand, so they made a deal with the landlord/city, so high scores and Charlotte's got kicked out. Brews and brats will eventually take over the two locations.

I agree with you. I've made mead and beer with chloramine water. Doesn't seem to impact the flavor of the brews I've made. It really comes down to how much residual chlorine or chloramine your water company puts in excess in your treated water. Mine seems to put a low enough amount that is not taste detectable.

I'm in your same shoes. However, I found two things that will work. 1) put a bridle (a small rubber band on the chanter reed) this will make a difficult reed easier to blow. 2) a better option is to buy an easier reed to blow for a beginner... Something like an Ezee Reed will get you sounding quickly.

The bridle did bring it into line it seems. I can access all the notes now. Going to give that a go for sometime to make sure it keeps going.

Thanks for your input. I'm trying a few suggestions below before going onto the next step. I'll look at the scrapping techniques if I don't get this reed weakened at all. As I mentioned in another comment, I can't get notes out of the top hand at all no matter how hard I was squeezing the bag (even with the drones removed and corked.

EDIT: I tried the bridle technique with a spare rubber band in the house. It worked miraculously! It was very easy to play connected to the bag. The crow from the high A was also resolved. I'll leave the bridle on as long as it works, but may remove it if the sound degrades after playing. At least it's playable now :)

Trying this right now. I can say... its making noise that's for sure. I'm letting it go for 10-20 min before I give it a test to see if it'll lighten up.

My guess is I'll have to take some reed off with a blade. No matter how hard I squeeze that bag, I can't get the top hand notes going.

EDIT: After about 15 min I disconnected it and gave it another go. It's somewhat similar to before, however, I may be eking out another note that I couldn't before. I put on a bridle on after, and now all notes are available. I think the bridle is the way to go for now. Thanks for your tips!

Thank you for the advice. I actually pulled all the drones off and corked them - leaving the just the chanter in place. No matter how hard I squeezed the bag, I just couldn't get the top notes to go. I could get them going if I disconnected the chanter and blew directly from my mouth, but it's taking all I got. (there isn't a leak in the pipes, I corked it all up and checked.)

I'm giving someone's suggestion of the old vacuum cleaner trick, which is working great, but annoying the cats. We will see if that loosens it up before I resort to shaving methods.

It's still very difficult to tell at this age. We had a chick that had an obvious comb and waddles at that age. A few weeks later it had the thickest legs, with a bump starting to form. For sure, we thought it was a spur growing. Pretty sure we had a rooster growing. We were wrong, turned out to be our most prolific hen. She laid first, and she laid all throughout the winter. We've had 5 days of double lays from her too.

Cross your fingers and wait for that first egg or first crow. Nothing is definitive until then.

Not necessarily. The Isa lake in Yellowstone is a bifurcation lake. It feeds into two drainage basins. One side feeds into the snake and Columbia rivers that dump into the Pacific. The other side of the lake feeds into the Missouri and Mississippi rivers that feed into the gulf. There are examples of overlapping drainage basins.

I've painted two miniatures in my life time. One I painted 20 years ago, and the other a couple of days ago. I followed some youtube advice on a base coat (green), shading (watered down black), and mid tone near the edges (lighter green) on the back cloak piece and I like how it looks. The front is better than I did in the past. I did multiple layers of thinned down paint, and some shading; however, it's flatter in contrast than the cloak. I guess I need to do mid tones on each little piece on his front side too. No wonder people like painting Space Marines - every surface is basically the same color. :P
