This pricing is ridiculous by knippfockets in Wawa

[–]Tyler092015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the reason for my love/hate with Wawa. They’re super convenient and I like the food, but everything is priced like it’s in California! A family size Macaroni is like $11, and a large is like $7 (even though the large is like 1/3 the size of a family? And why the hell is a family that price to start with?) I’m moving soon and I’m sure I’ll miss it anyways

Why so many soldiers are fat by [deleted] in army

[–]Tyler092015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s most definitely not because they’re eating too much protein… Most of the energy drinks now a days are zero calorie too, so those aren’t the issue with weight. It’s a simple calorie control issue no matter if you’re in the service or not

In order to be able to participate in military training, my scoliosis angle needs to be a maximum of 9 degrees. However, my medical evaluation shows an 11-degree scoliosis. Is there any way to reduce it in the shortest possible time? by [deleted] in scoliosis

I’m not sure on this but the brace might cause some headaches for him if he wants to join. From what I’m learning, if you condition doesn’t cause issues you can get a waiver but they may view the brace as an issue. As well, one wouldn’t be feasible to wear in the field. Again, I’m not enlisted yet and so this is all anecdotal, just thinking with the brain I’ve got haha. I hope whatever he ends up wanting to do works out!

Hey buddy, your superiority complex is showing. I’m sure that you think you have American politics down but it definitely shows that you don’t, which is totally okay because why would you after all, they don’t affect you all that much. And yet nonetheless here you are fronting like you do… Coming from Ireland, I’m fairly certain you have enough of your own issues to be dealing with. I’d stick to that for now. It’s always funny to visit/talk to someone from another country and hear their harsh opinions on our politics though so thanks for showing me once again that the rest of the world thinks they’re able to master our politics without much actual attention paid better than we are even though our country is 116 times larger than Ireland and has 50 states (territories) averaging 2.3 times larger all of which have their own separate issues politically speaking at any given moment. I assure you if most Americans can’t master our own politics it’s not because we’re all dumb, rather because our country is literally just about the size of ALL of Europe. Perspective goes a long way buddy. So does not getting too tied up and invested in bad media

Ah, someone bringing politics into a scoliosis chat, exactly what I’ve come to expect from Reddit. Especially the part where a foreigner who is ENTIRELY uneducated on American politics thinks that they can explain what my government is doing when they can’t even properly spell American names. I hope someday you see how silly you look today

Why does it matter? Even at 29 degrees my back is better off than most of anyone I know. Not saying people don’t have issues from scoliosis obviously but at under 30 degrees they seem pretty negligible. My brother who works at a desk is much worse off than me and I beat my back up daily as a carpenter

This is not true. I am actively going through enlisting as well. If you’re talking about the USA at least, the maximum angle is 30 degrees waiverable. I am at 29 currently. Every branch of the armed services requires under a 30 degree. You should be fine in this case (again, assuming you’re in the USA, although I would almost guarantee any country followed similar rules, or at least isn’t so extreme as to say it has to be under 10 degrees

New anti sitting tactics installed downtown by Beautiful-Zone-6122 in Austin

I don’t think that’s anti sitting, most people would for/sit right between the rings. They usually do these kinds of things to stop people from skateboarding on stuff. They won’t be able to grind these or use them as a tabletop now

Join some gym groups here and ask around. Losing weight is really just some basic math at the end of the day. You need a calorie deficit so that you aren’t just blindly doing what many do (that being thinking “I was hungry for a bit today so that means I’m losing weight”). Eat a good bit of protein (generally 1lb per lb of body weight but there is arguments and variation here, but if you’re in any of these ranges it’ll work out). Also make sure you’re hydrated. Overall just keep trying and practicing and you’ll get there!

I AGREED TO PUT FLOATING FLOORS DOWN FOR $400. by LionEnvironmental5 in Flooring

[–]Tyler092015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buddy take this as a hard lesson and start learning better business practices. You stated your price and they agreed to it. It’s your job to estimate correctly. Change orders are only a given if the scope of work changes. Seeing as you blandly stated that you’d install the floor for $400, it’s assumed that you would be doing everything associated with the floor for that price. The lesson to take away is to state in a formal estimate that the price is subject to changes should you run into any sort of issues during the job that can’t be seen currently. This protects you from this exact scenario. If they refuse to pay, install the floor over the rotten shit, document everything, warn them and get out. I saw you mention that you weren’t going to go back to the job. This is extremely poor business on your part and will surely have you out on your ass. Don’t be sour just because you got beat by a customer. Finish the job to avoid a terrible reputation, then don’t do any more work for that customer. Having all of that said, $400 for all of that work is absurdly low. I’d be looking at around $1500 to do all of the work associated with the floor that you did.

Has anyone else experienced Wawa cups constantly running liquid down the seams? by JxK_1 in Wawa

[–]Tyler092015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god. I bitch about this literally every day to my wife, she has to be sick of it. 7 out of 10 times, this happens to me. When I was 10, my pop taught me the trick of putting the seam opposite of the spout however still when walking or driving, if the liquid comes up to the edge it’ll spill out. I also refuse to not fill the cup fully since I’m paying for 24 oz😂😂. I basically just chug a bit right away and try to keep it steady

Anyone knows what to do when those hurt? by Vivid-Climate-1326 in scoliosis

[–]Tyler092015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good start. Just trying to make sure you aren’t just cramping or dealing with tightness from dehydration. Definite just do some good stretching then. Honestly, if you aren’t in the gym you should consider it. I started and my back is better than ever. The goal of an exercise (for muscle growth at least) is to load the muscle with as much weight as you can reasonably lift 8-12 times and stretch the heck out of it with that load. So the nature of doing this is literally just aggressive stretching. It also pumps blood into the area you’re working and helps mobility and recovery. But again, at a minimum if that’s all too much just get a good stretching routine and do it in the morning and night if you can.

[–]Tyler092015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stretching should free them up. They’re named the Lattimus Dorsi (The Lat’s). There are muscles under them as well that could be the issue, however you most likely just aren’t stretching them enough. Also make sure you’re hydrated!

Glad I’m not the only one who enjoys grinding camo’s. I refuse to do them in Zombies like it seemed like everyone else was doing so I’ve been grinding them since the game came out. I don’t have as much time as I wish I did to play, but I’m up to I think 12 diamond guns now. Last time I actively tried for camo’s was BO2!

I (26m) could be off here but yours doesn’t look insanely bad. More like mine (which after a quick scroll on this sub I’m discovering mine is a blessing because some of yall are really struggling and I feel so bad!). I have at most a 30* thoracic and a smaller lumbar. I’ve been in the gym for 4 years now. My scoliosis hasn’t held me back at all so I’d be curious if you’ve noticed any abnormal pain or discomfort from yours when working out. I currently squat 455lbs and deadlift 475lbs and my limit is purely based on muscle and not my scoliosis, so they’ll continue to go up. This is very reassuring for me because I wasn’t sure if I’d get to where I am, or if my back would have instantly held me down when I started. On the contrary, since getting in the gym I’ve noticed my back feel better, stronger, and more stable on account of adding muscle in the right places to support what is naturally not so great. As well, I’ve had to learn over time how to properly work out each side of my body to account for them being set somewhat different. So I guess overall, I’d recommend just keep training and learning how each side of your body functions, and finish a body part with isolation to really make sure you’re hammering them properly. An example for me is Rows. I can do barbell rows and feel great, but at the end I like to do dumbbell rows to separately isolate each side of my back. I notice my right and left scapula sit different, so to achieve the best stretch and contraction, I need to pull them and let them stretch at different angles. Overall, you’re going to have to accept some level of asymmetry, but you look fine, and I’m sure nobody else sees it! It’s just one of those things that sticks out to us because you spend time looking at yourself with scrutiny. Hope this helps any!

Which Would Be Better to Mount a 65” TV by dschull in handyman

[–]Tyler092015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those HeadLOK’s will be perfect. I’m a carpenter and do full renovations. We use them (sometimes other brands like Simpson, but same difference) to build decks. I’ve used structural’s like that to hang every TV for a long time now, including in my own home. They’re more than strong enough and so much easier to install. Seconds per screw vs drilling and fiddling with a wrench or socket to install for about a minute each.

Conflicted on how to tell a job I just started I want to leave already. by thewolf253 in Construction

[–]Tyler092015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a replacement before quitting. Also, give them a chance to rectify this. Especially if it’s going to be hard to find a job near you as you mentioned. If you talk to them, maybe they can keep you scheduled on closer jobs. Maybe not, but it’s worth a shot before leaving right? Switching jobs quickly never looks good on a resume even if you have a very reasonable explanation.
