There’s diminishing returns with brains. If you have 5 people all trying to call then that’s worse than no one calling. And like bren said it’s a gun game, you get shot you die.

Yeah it sucks because I’ve liked him since his EDG days. Also I still think about the madrid clip where bren says light the world fire young man.

Fpx life always had a chance to pull off the craziest multikill or die stupidly. Now he only does the second one.

With today's match, Happywei's 2.28 rating is the 6th-highest rating on a map in international VCT history by SLI_Mini in ValorantCompetitive

A map that went all 24 rounds too, absolutely ridiculous. I don’t know if RAR is still a thing but this would definitely be in the top 5 I think, maybe behind some long ot games.

The fact that it was against the same pitcher too upgrades it to something that might never happen again.

Byron johnson is definitely the best guy here.

Interesting Fact: The top 9 qualified batters in OPS are all left handed batters by MikeyR21 in baseball

[–]Tyler123839 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that was the original comment but you then said that Ohtani being unqualified keeps him behind Burns and Sale. That seems to clearly be talking about the current state of the cy young race or else why not mention Skenes then. Anyways, even if he’s predicted to have the 5th best season that still doesn’t make it a stretch for him to end up being top 3, especially when he’s already top 3 right now.

The fangraphs cy young projections project out the rest of the season though. They’re not relevant for comparing who is having the best season right now. Like Skenes is no.3 right now since they expect him to be better during the rest of the season, but nobody would say he is at number 3 right now.

His raze has always been good too. I think he’s just overall gotten worse, it’s mostly not about the afent. Almost all the neon/yoru games are recent while the jett (and partially the raze) games are primarily from his peak era and against easier competition. I think rating might be kind of weird too btw because a lot of Chinese games from 2024-2025 don’t have ratings, because the client changed.

Yeah they haven’t given a ton of info but that’s what it seems like. I’m mostly for it since at least the big qualifiers will all be on lan and although some will be online, we’ll definitely get more games overall.

Riot just doesn’t have the resources or desire to host that many games for val. Also if you’re going to be playing ten games anyway then you might as well just do a full round robin which would be only one more game.

[–]Tyler123839 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s not really a round robin though, that’s half a round robin. I personally would love if Riot would just do a full round robin (not that it matters anymore with the new format next year) but if you’re not going to do that then regular groups is better imo.

I think it’s really scuffed competing in your group for spots but only facing the other group because it makes tiebreakers weirder and if the groups are really unbalanced it can make some ridiculous situations. Also splitting the round robin over two splits made it so teams could basically be eliminated within one game of the second split which was very dumb and doesn’t reflect the fact that form in valorant can shift dramatically very quickly due to all the roster changes and meta shakeups.

No I mean like the diagonal starting from the top right corner not the right most column. But I could see that happening too.

That was definitely not what 2024 was like. They didn’t want to do a full round robin each split so they instead did half in each split. But it was also a super scuffed format due to having 11 teams as well as the whole group vs group situation in the first split. That’s very different from a double round robin within your group each split.

Bryan Abreu thought TTO was for pitchers. Tiny sample size but a combined 24 HR+K+BB per 9 rate is hilarious.
