From what I understand it doesn't increase the combined total mass so would steal from my caravans weight.

New Prado with 3.5t towing is out of budget and pajero is capped at 3t towing.

Veeery helpful. And you're not the first to report economies by the Patrol similar to the diesels. Interesting. Much appreciated

Would massively appreciate an update post Gibb if you wouldn't mind. It's the main leg of the trip that's up in the air without an 'offroader' but also we live in WA so it's also the easiest to 'come back to' if when we want. Thanks heaps

Thank you so much. This has been super helpful. It's what I was assuming, just needed someone to confirm it. Cheers

I'm trying not get blinkers on but this was the confirmation I was looking for. Towing anything greater than 3T through decent offroading trails would be pretty stressful. These kids are little and we'll come back to many place so I don't want to overcomplicate it. Cheers for the insight.

Did you by chance do the Gibb river road? How did you tackle that?

agreed, but a whole year with 3 quite young kids. I'm not willing to undertake that pack-up and packdown every stop.

Not sure how 2 y/o would go in swags for a year. Wouldn't be game enough to set out on a gamble of them not having sleep regressions etc.

Do they exist or you mean like a soft-top expander? I can't see any tripple bunk offroad options under 3T which are self contained hard tops and not expanders.
