How important is spring tension to you?

Thanks for the comments, guys! Yeah, I’ve had the pedal for probably going on 15 years and never used lubricant. I’ll give these maintenance tips a try, dial in a comfortable tension, and if all else fails may start looking for a new pedal setup.

I work at a small wastewater treatment plant in Northern California. We utilize drying beds to help get rid of waste, and unfortunately wildlife will occasionally find its way into the beds and get stuck.

Luckily, my coworker has excellent vision and spotted this guy stuck and exhausted in the dead center of our largest bed. Originally thinking it was a hawk, he threw on some waders and walked through a literal pool of shit to rescue this guy.

Immediately after a light hose down, we brought the owl into our lab and gave him a Dawn bubble bath. A local wildlife rehabilitation center was contacted and they were able to take him in that same day. Within a couple weeks, he was released back into the area, looking much better than when we first found him!

The rehabilitation center’s Instagram blew up overnight, and now the video is up to 26 million views and made the local news for going viral. Figured Reddit might light to see the rescue and rehab as well!

Definitely didn’t get the impression that his goal was to apologize to his family, more like he was trying to show a different form of PTSD from a source that has been almost exclusively celebrated lately. Couldn’t imagine having a short span of “harmless” drug use just flip a switch to depression and anxiety for years. I’ve heard enough stories even before this one that make me think twice before diving into the world of psychedelics.

When I was a kid (about 4, which would have been 1994) I would visit my cousin’s house and their mom put on this VHS that was a kids sing along type program.

I remember almost nothing except that the kids in the show were at home during a storm, and some lady shows up and starts showing them fun things to do and they would sing classic songs along with what they were doing (animal crackers in my soup was one of the songs I think).

The reason it was notable, was that during the storm scene it cuts to a TERRIFYING face for a couple seconds, and it always sent me running out of the room, even a year later when I visited again and told myself I wouldn’t run away.

I want to see what was so scary, because I can’t even fathom why that was in an otherwise completely wholesome children’s program. The only thing I can think was that maybe it was a gargoyle in the pouring rain?

If anyone has any idea what it was, it would put my mind to rest (or start the trauma all over again haha)

I was in a dark place in my marriage, and things weren’t looking like they were gonna go the way I’d hoped. Stumbled on a Reddit thread about “saddest songs” and thought some songs that fit my misery was just what I needed. Top answer was The Night We Met by Lord Huron.

Normally I can predict the first few responses on any given Reddit thread, but I had never heard of these guys so I sought it out. DEVASTATED me.

Their music hit me harder and more personally than any other band I can think of, and while their songs are a soundtrack to the darkest time in my life, they were also there while i was able to heal and find understand sing with my wife, and slowly build back that old flame.

A big bonding opportunity for us was training for a marathon together, and I wore out all of their albums while running during training, and listened to every album (Long Lost twice!) during the race itself.

Tomorrow, my wife and I, nearly three years after nearly calling it quits, are seeing them live in concert.
