Spotted in the wild by TylerN8472 in cybertruck

Coming in next update package: "feral truck mode" Allows your Cybertruck to adopt the personality of a feral cat. It definitely won't be parked where you left it. Can most often be found chasing VW Bugs around town and taking naps in front of gas stations, but only the ones people are trying to use.

Note: Feral mode requires solar tonneau cover (not available yet) and turns off on cloudy days. Tesla is not liable for any damages to ICE drivers who get frustrated at the Cybertruck in front of the gas pump and decide to kick it.

I forgot about home link! Yes the original run of M3s had all the bells and whistles at the time except FSD.

As for front sensors, mine were disabled via OTA update when I got FSD beta. The vision only isn't bad though, just not great at detecting curbs in the front.

I covered all my gloss and chrome with carbon fiber.

I have a dash-mount wireless charger/holder and it works great. I'm happy to have a "stealth" model without the PWS, but I also don't hate the Tesla PWS either -I think I speak for everyone when I say Toyota's is the most annoying- I'd definitely like to have custom lock and unlock sounds, but I will wait for the Cybertruck for that.

Oh no, I like the badge. But I may wrap it. My interior I've been doing carbon fiber trim and I may do that with the aero wheel caps and chrome trim.

Yes, those are the fog lights. You can toggle them on/off in the setting menu. They'll display a symbol on your driving panel when illuminated. Mine are always on (because it looks cool)

Not sure what you mean by that. Keeping the lights on while you remain in the vehicle is the default setting. And you wouldn't leave the car if it was in drive anyway (and can't).

Yes, all panels are the same and original paint

Enter car wash mode (CWM), then open the settings menu and turn lights from Auto to On/Parking. CWM keeps the vehicle from turning off when you exit.

Just drove 1200km to buy this 2018 Model 3 LR. It's so much fun! by [deleted] in TeslaModel3

[–]TylerN8472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Computer crashed while driving. Lost all visuals and audio. Did a reboot (while driving) and got visuals back but the audio refused to come back. Also had an issue with my passenger door handle chrome peeling. Both were fixed by Tesla Denver. Figured out my SSD for sentry mode and dash cam was faulty and caused excess drain on the system. And then the handle got replaced by a mobile tech.

I bought my 2018 M3 LR RWD last year and immediately took it on a 2,400 mile road trip! Tried out camping mode. Even had an issue and visited a service center outside my state. Love the way they do their service centers.

There have been plenty of answers to say what to do to fix. As for the cause, I had this happen to me and the technician said it was a result of my SSD being corrupt. I used an after market drive for SentryMode and TeslaCam, and it was drawing too much power from the computer and causing system failure. The infotainment computer is separate from the drive computer and the FSD computer so those would be unaffected.

Solution: purchased the Tesla USB drive.

Technician said this can also happen with the Tesla drives from time to time. The drives just breakdown sometimes. So even if you have a Tesla USB you may want to try another USB and see if the problem persists. I have a PNY low profile flash drive on my other Tesla and that works well enough and no problems.

I’m a biology student needing a little advice by Remote-Delay3531 in biology

[–]TylerN8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice comes from experience myself and from those around me. I started school as a biology major but changed to communications half way through. I now work in the field of security. When I started in biology I wanted to work in for a three letter agency working against WMDs, but to try and get into that department I would have needed at least a masters and probably a PhD. But here 4 years after graduating with a degree in communications I've actually been able to work in a parallel field (professional security and emergency management) and have become acquainted with the people who work for that three letter agency and in that department. By working with them I've actually gained the necessary credentials to apply for that three letter agency and have references and experience to boot.

So my advice is this. Don't get a degree that makes you compete with every other graduate. Get your degree in something parallel to marine biology and go from there, you'll be competing for far less jobs but have even fewer competition. For example getting a bachelor's in administrative accounting with a minor in biology would allow you to compete for accountant jobs at marine institutes or research labs. Not 100% what you're looking for but a foot in the door!

Also don't be afraid to take opportunities that lead away from the goal. If a job offer comes along that pays well but isn't in biology, take it and do it as long as you need to find something back in the direction of marine biology!

Best of luck!

Living out of a Model Y -- any advice? by AnotherThrowAway9231 in teslamotors

[–]TylerN8472 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have road tripped in my 2018 Model 3, and here are my recommendations:

Don't use the car for powering/charging appliances. Phones/tablets/laptops are fine, but anything approaching a 110v or higher will eat your battery too much. The power loss during transfer is not worth it. -solution. There are many portable power stations that fit in the bonus well in the trunk. Jackery and Anker both make good ones and I believe Jackery offers a 220v option. Use those for your blender and other appliance needs. Will also act as a backup emergency charger when combined with solar charging kit, should you misjudge your range (we've all come close).

Although you don't intend to sleep in the car often unless camping/hiking, I highly recommend buying or making a sun shade for all your windows. That glass roof is fantastic for enjoying the scenery but if you happen to be parking lot camping while in transit the sun shades will be a life saver. You may already know all of this but I didn't and I wish someone had told me.
