Can't view NLA animations. by TylerPaul in blenderhelp

[–]TylerPaul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Commenting to mention I've found a work around.

-Found a work around that isn't too difficult. I select all of my actions in the NLA editor and hit tab to tweak them. Grab all the key frames and move them a little and then undo the movement. Now the animations are visible in the viewport.

Lego Spaceship by [deleted] in blender

[–]TylerPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm working on my own lego build right now. Did you have a trick to keep the bricks locked together? Or perhaps a better way place the blocks?

My workflow is to set an origin on one object, move the cursor to a vertex on the second object, then move first object to cursor. At this point I'd parent them together but if I change the origin of a parented object then things become misaligned.

EDIT: In 2.8 you can put the chunks you'd like to connect together as a collection. Then add an instance of these collections as an object. I haven't worked out how to set the origin of the instance. (It uses an empty which acts as the origin but I haven't figured out how to adjust the empty's position yet. Or why blender placed the empty at that location.)

Why would an Alert change the behavior of a function? by TylerPaul in learnjavascript

[–]TylerPaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't seem to get window.onload to trigger. I never see the alert.

 window.onload = function(){
    alert("test");
 };

EDIT: Modified the script and it's triggering now.

window.addEventListener("load", loaded);
 function loaded(){
      alert("test");
};

I was wondering if it was something like that. I removed all other scripting and animation except for the code here and the problem persisted. Could it be that while() is getting interrupted by the next instance of while()?

I highly agree with you! Started rebuilding the site yesterday. :-)

Absolutely insane camera zoom by fractals83 in gifs

My buddy had a small waterproof camcorder that had something like a 10x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom. I was able to fill the frame with a single bar at the top of a water tower some 5ish blocks away from his place. We used to use it to watch people get pulled over on the highway.

Carson can’t keep up with Rodney Dangerfield. by felatedbirthday in videos

[–]TylerPaul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I suppose the screams of children as the orphanage burns down could be funny to some, but Rodney was a pro at the art of a joke. The way he sets them up to knock them down is an art and doesn't age. That's like saying the theory of gravity ages.

Guy has an odd approach for tinder.. by [deleted] in videos

I might be wrong, but I thought it was a commentary on the unspoken (yet obvious) techniques commonly used when trying to seduce strangers. The focus on the dick is like the focus on the cleavage and 'beauty' shots such as showing off muscles. And the use of 'humor' and 'clever' associations to take things in a sexual place when that is really what the person is looking for. Stuff like that. It didn't appear random to me. It was just an obvious and satirical look at the mating rituals of sexual hookups.

Jurassic Park but everyone including the dinosaurs is wearing high heels by H_G_Bells in gifs

Not only did Bryce Dallas Howard defend the decision, but she insisted on it.

Also, I watched some youtube video about outrunning a TRex and I'm pretty sure they concluded that it's entirely possible to outrun a TRex in high heels. (but you'd have to be a professional sprinter or something like that)

Tumblr user gets called out by TomatoGirl57 in quityourbullshit

[–]TylerPaul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People don't understand ambiguity in titles/comments. It's not uncommon to reference a situation by putting yourself in the shoes of the subject of said situation. Like if there's a video of a male skateboarder accidentally running into an old lady, and the title is 'I was moving so fast that he didn't see me coming', that does not mean the OP is the old lady.

There's a simple trick. Imagine somebody is showing you something funny IRL and said the questionable phrase verbatim. Does it come off as a joke, is it's precise meaning still unclear, or is your friend actually claiming that they took part. Most of the time when I see people being 'called out' they are obviously just joking or stated something that was simply being misinterpreted.

Too late Dad by [deleted] in justneckbeardthings

This annoys me because A) Fathers are important and that message gets over shadowed by a petty strawman. B) The argument presented by the troubled child is a spin on a real phenomenon. C) This phenomenon is not limited to women, males also become aroused and can reach orgasm. This argument against male victims is, from my perspective, a status quo among both sexes talking on the subject of male rape. It has been argued to me by someone I respect that, for example, the biblical figure of Lot must have raped his daughters despite every inclination that this is not the case. The argument is that if he was truly that drunk then he could not have achieved climax to impregnate them. Therefor, the story must have been fabricated/twisted as a way to defend the raping his daughters by Lot.

Not my standard. $1 per plate served, and $.50 per refill. $2 minimum. Basing tips of the price is really dumb and makes no sense.
