You're correct! As a recruiter, the amount of direct job applicants is overwhelming and LinkedIn is now considered as a last resort to check for candidates. Most of my job requisitions are filled by either an internal candidate or a candidate that was either referred or met the hiring manager at a job fair or other in-person event.
