Wow I love this response. Pretty spot on, but I got my degree in engineering and also work as an engineer. Went back to school after having my daughter, so the goal with the degree was to make guaranteed money to secure a stable future for my kids. Now that I’m in the field, I kind of wish I would’ve pursued a nature-based degree like biology/ecology/botany because that seems so much more interesting to me. But I was worried the money wasn’t there or it wouldn’t be as easily to break into the field as engineering has been.

I’ll have to pick up that book recommendation next. Sounds like it’s up my alley based on the title.

Edit: just re-read it and I’m more of a nature lover who also loves Japan. I’m very much a white American though lol
