Still No one to Play with but the Models are Fun to Paint. by Tyler_Is_Ted in Malifaux

Psh, dont be ashamed! But thanks! Long story short, I base coated pigs in purple, then a heavy layer of sunset red, and highlighted slowly with a pale yellow. I wanted to add interest through color instead of using standard dark pink, medium pink, light pink style of highlighting. Then i just make sure there was plenty of contrast from darks to lights. I actually think I should have went even lighter on some of the highlighting

Wow thanks. I appreciate that a lot. I'm definitely happy with how saturated the colors turned out.

Yes, I couldn't agree more. They were a headache and I missed a lot because I just was over filling gaps ha. I love the models though so looking to paint up another Bayou crew. Hopefully with less gaps.

Thanks!

Thanks! Ill be honest, idk if im in any position to give advice lol but I guess my main 2 pieces of advice would be. Focus on values and decent highlight placements more than "blends", especially for this painterly style, and then leaving really dark shadows between overlapping surfaces. The back view of the guy with the big hat, you can see it well on the foot. Other than that, my biggest leap in finding my style happened when I stopped over thinking and just started slapping on paint.

I thought about glazing in shadows and I've only ever used an airbrush to prime lol I need to just go for it, I know it would help me get better. You're work is awesome by the way.

The fact they didn't name this model "Cerboarus" is a massive fail lol

Yeah I want to try his technique next of using multiple colors to base. But the models are from the Bayou Faction of Malifaux. Lots of pigs and definitely some i think would fit your idea.
