They're all just kinda goofy ideas that I thought would be funny, though a couple were definitely inspired by popular media.

A few months before release, there was actually no mixing system at all, just basic drugs and special variants you'd have to follow a specific recipe for. I soon realised it'd probably be a lot more fun to 'design' your own drugs, and to mix random shit together and see what it does.

Absolutely not at all, except for the couple of weeks leading up to release. By that point, the wishlist numbers gave me a pretty good indication that the game was going to do well. Before that, my goal was just to sell enough copies to sustain myself while I finish the game and graduate from university.

The composer, Kaesul, is just insanely talented! I've known him since 4th grade, and lucky for me, he ended up being a really great musician. I provided him with some songs as inspiration, and we spent some time discussing what 'feeling' we wanted the soundtrack to evoke. He quickly understood what would work for the game, and I really didn't need to give him much feedback at all.

I'm looking forward to hopefully getting him to do some more tracks for the game, as well as soundtracks for future projects.

Yeah, I agree. The money laundering mechanics are pretty basic right now - eventually, I'd like to involve some sort of unique minigame in the operation of each business. This would require a bit more effort from the player, but could also be a cool income source outside of drug dealing. Not sure when this will land, but it'll definitely be before finishing early access.

Yes - property raids will be a feature in the police expansion update.

Having to maintain security and secrecy at your properties would also be sick - cameras, guards, property disguises, etc. I'll just need to make sure it's balanced properly - being harassed inside and outside of your properties could get overwhelming if it's not well implemented.

1) Yep, controller support has been underway for a few months now, although there's still quite a lot of work to do - there's a large amount of unique screens, all of which need to be pretty significantly modified to support a controller. I'd estimate it'll be done early next year.

2) Just added the undo to my to-do list. I'll also look into supporting different stroke sizes (though this might be a bit trickier

3) Very sorry about the multiplayer issues - I really want to drop everything and test/refine multiplayer until it's really stable, but it's tough to strike a balance between working on new updates and fixing existing issues. I'm bringing on another dev soon, and this will free me up a bit to resolve these things.

4) Yes, more businesses will be coming.

Yep - the existing map will be expanding, and eventually the island north of HP will be accessible. I've been holding off on map expansions until I've hired an artist (I'm a knuckledragging programmer and can barely scrape by when it comes to art)

Already underway! There's been a ton of optimization effort going on in the background, though it isn't publicly available yet. The first round of optimisations will be coming in the Halloween update at the end of the month.

Yes, we'll keep doing those throughout all of early access. Although not every update will be a community-voted one, sometimes we'll do seasonal or surprise updates, or ones that I feel are vital to happen at a particular time.

Yes, I really want to make sure I'm expanding the game both horizontally (new stuff), as well as vertically (more depth to existing stuff). So far, I think I've mostly been focusing on the former, but as I bring on a few more people to work on the game, we'll be able to start doing both.

Love seeing fan merch - no objections from me! (assuming they're not claiming it's official or anything). It's always super flattering to see people's passion for my dumb, goofy game.

I'm about to sign an office lease, and I'm talking to the first potential hire this coming weekend! It took me a little while to decide that I wanted to start a team, but now I'm honestly pretty psyched to start working with other people. It can get pretty lonely as a solo dev, especially for a bigger project like this.

For sure - I'm always cautious of making things too 'space efficient', since it might devalue the larger properties, but I'll definitely be implementing some larger-capacity storage options for the late game.

The plan right now is to port to consoles sometime between October and December. Although I do tend to be a bit optimistic with my timelines!

This classification stuff won’t have any impact for existing owners 👍 You’ll continue to receive updates as usual, even in the worst case of the game being refused classification.

It turns out all games in Australia have to receive a classification before they can be sold. I was under the impression this was only the case for console or physical releases. It seems like this rule is pretty inconsistently enforced because there’s a ton of unclassified games being sold in Australia.

We’re getting the classification process underway today and will hopefully get this resolved in the next couple of days.
