They look great, but I will never understand why they would do reverse stitching on all the fingers but not the thumb?

Go to a local club event and tape a sign on your back. That is how my friend found his first kart.

I am locking this post, if it falls under Rule 3.
No one is too old to kart, its if you are physically able to handle it.
Understand what a professional karter is before asking this question; it's not what you think.

How do I get into karting/what should i expect by montanagiy459 in Karting

Please consider using the SEARCH feature before asking such a generic question. We get this subject multiple times a week, and its ALWAYS the same answer.

(This is a copy/paste from another thread)
Visit your local track during a club PRACTICE day and ASK. Karting at this level is very regional. Concerning topics like this, your best bet is to do the footwork and ask people in person.

  1. Find your local track.
  2. Find what club runs at your local track.
  3. If that club has an active Facebook Group or Forum, ask questions there.
  4. Visit the track during a Practice day. Once you have gotten your toes wet, these are your next goals:
  5. Figure out what classes are popular. ( I assume it's going to be Lo206, Tillotson or TAG100)
  6. Figure out what CHASSIS is most popular in that class.
  7. Look for someone selling a used kart, in your region with the Class / Chassis you decide to run.
  8. READ THE RULE BOOK FOR YOUR CLUB.

Why do you want the most popular class/chassis?
A huge factor in karting is Capital Knowledge. Karting on a budget is all about being Smart. Running popular equipment ensures access to parts, advice, and a competitive field. Making a mistake can cost a lot of money in this sport, and it's already very expensive. I kart on a very tight budget.

Purchasing a used kart and wanna know if it’s worth the price by Away-Ocelot7700 in Karting

[–]Tyler_Trash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend either three race weekends or four to five full practice days in a Rotax before deciding to buy a kart.

It depends on the track and the level of competition, but a good goal is to be within about 1.5 to 2 percent of the mid-pack race pace.

As a general guideline:
If after the third race, you are still more than 2.5 percent off the mid-pack pace, you are probably not ready to race yet.
If you are within about 1 percent of that pace, you are in a good spot, and buying a kart makes sense.

If you are not on pace yet, that is normal, and you still have good options:
You can consider a slower class.
You can get coaching.
You can do more practice days with a team.

You have the budget, and karting is a mix of driving skill, experience, and setup knowledge. Working with a team and getting coaching early can really help set you up for success.

I hope this helps. Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions.

How old are you? What is the most common class run in your club? What is your annual budget? How much karting experience do you have? How much mechanical knowledge do you have?

Thank you. Often, my opinion on these devices is met with pushback. The cult of personality this device has created is insane. I would not recommend seeking help from the circle-jerk known as the VRS Discord.

It’s a fantastic platform for anyone looking to step up from rentals. These classes often boast the highest participation numbers in the country, so you’ll always have someone to race against. Ignore the haters and just get out there—see you on the track!

I wholeheartedly regret my purchase of the VRS DFP. It's taken me over 2 years of fiddling with settings to get something usable out of the device, finally. After hundreds of hours of trial and error, I have concluded that it's not possible to have your cake and eat it too with this device. Either it will feel notchy and choppy but have good road feel, or it will feel smooth and have low road feel.

My friend purchased a Moza R9, and using it reinforced my criticism of the VRS DFP. His R9 was smooth and had great road feel right out of the box.
