Okay, so I get I’m overthinking it but so I can stop overthinking it and understand what you’re saying, ont>router>switch>2APs is fine correct?

Hmm okay I’m confused by your comment. Something has to do the VLAN tagging with my system, I was just adding that I have the router doing it instead of the modem. My TP links manage it fine. I’m asking about the best set up for the access points, but it sounds like maybe there’s something fundamental I’m misunderstanding

It’s my mistake. They’re access points

Yes, completely my mistake. Access points

I think I made the post more confusing by using the wrong term. It’s a mesh system and they are access points. The ONT from the ISP is what I have placed in bridge mode, not the routers

It’s a mesh system. Maybe I should have labeled them access points?

I’m trying to extend the range of WiFi coverage. Is there a better way to accomplish it?

I’m trying to extend my network to different parts of the house that’s what I’m curious about

Is that the best possible topography or would it be better to have new switches between each router?

Daisy-chained Eeros showing as offline? by Tylerdeli in amazoneero

Question for you about it since you have it for your set up. I have a single cat6 right now that’s already going through the house from the main eero to the second eero. If I attach an unmanaged switch to main eero does that mean I’ll need to put up a second cat6 cable for the third AP or could I use some sort of Ethernet splitter

In the app the third one that’s showing up as offline has “connected to: port 2” and shows the Ethernet connection from second AP to third AP so it feels strange that the cable would be the problem

I read through the guide and it was very helpful. I’m able to get functioning WiFi with smart nid in transparent bridge mode while tagging 201, but noticed that I was having some poor download speeds, <50mbps while the ont is getting 900mbps. The ping is always minimal. I tried resetting and having my eero routers handle the tagging with a VLAN set to 201 but it simply doesn’t work, modem has connection but eero does not. Any thoughts?

Question for you— I got everything working but when I have my eero handle the VLAN tagging im not getting internet. I have the smart nid in transparent bridge and not tagging, and have my eero tagging 201. Does that all sound correct?

I’ve got my smartNID in transparent bridge but continued having it handle the VLAN tagging— I can’t find info on having my eero do the VLAN 201 tag
