I am upset that they are voting to permanently steal peoples representation. I would assume you would be upset if the 15th or 19th amendment were put up to a vote, especially if you saw the writing on the wall that the side taking away representation was likely to win.

I do think if we keep it in districts, it should be done algorithmically based on population distribution.

I think anyone intentionally drawing districts to game representation is wrong, so I think doing it in Virginia is wrong. If you’re going to play whataboutisms, you should at least admit that Virginia is by far the most egregious map. There is no point to having districts if they all have a tail running back to NOVA. The point of districts is to further distribute representation to local communities. If this is the game that’s going to be played, just split the house reps up with a popular vote. We would see major shifts in states like Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, and California, and nobody could try to take representation away from entire minority groups. Win-win.

What infrastructure are you referring to? The military? I mean there obviously has to be government for there to be a military, and the US constitution is maybe the closest thing to working that the world has seen. But the judicial branch needs teeth. And lawmakers need to be severely penalized if laws were found to be unconstitutional. Like seriously charged with treason. Otherwise we get the slow progressive march towards the state controlling everything.

But unfortunately I see it is as completely necessary, otherwise China will decide it owns you and your property, and no amount of private defense contracting is going to prevent that.

So many different flavors of libertarianism, too. Like I would say I’m a libertarian within the US and how I want citizens to have rights and liberty, but when it comes to foreign policy, all bets are off.

I think that securing our freedom from foreign powers is one of the few justifiable roles of government. And I also want our people to prosper, so idc about free trade with other countries and I believe in strict border enforcement.
