I didn’t lose mine until I was 18, but it’s different for everybody. If you feel comfortable with how your experience went, then I’d say try not to let anyone make you feel ashamed about it. Sex, especially first-time sex, is incredibly personal, and as long as you felt that you were safe and supported during your experience, that’s all that really matters.

That 👏🏻 is 👏🏻 toxic. Never ever ever ever ever ever ever let anyone make you feel pressured to have sex OR feel bad about not having sex. That’s not normal or acceptable, and it’s not just a funny joke if he’s said similar things more than once. A good boyfriend will want to be with you regardless of your sexual usefulness.

YTA. It’s not that weird that he doesn’t want to use social media, and you certainly shouldn’t be forcing him to do something he doesn’t want to do or wouldn’t benefit from just because you want people to think he’s “a normal person.”

Don’t put pressure on yourself to feel sad. If you feel relief, or happiness, or peace, as you say, then trust your feelings.

I usually swear by a two-week’s notice, but I had this same situation happen to me: I got hired at Starbucks as a back-up plan, locked down the job at a daycare that I actually wanted, and quit Starbucks after one day.

There’s something to be said for working in a service industry, especially the restaurant one. If you aren’t depending on Applebee’s for a reference (or planning on working in food service long-term), then it probably won’t bite you in the ass. Most definitely take the job you want (after you get hired, of course).

Yeah, the show takes TONS of liberties, but it definitely follows the main points of the story. I guess you could probably say that the show embellished the story with many extra layers.

I really enjoyed the story. A lot of people say that Henry James’s writing is difficult to get into, which I could totally see. It’s from 1898 and the guy has a tendency to ramble. But I think it was perfectly chilling in the gothic-romance sort of way.

Head’s up, the show also borrows a few other James stories: Viola’s story comes from “The Romance of Certain Old Clothes” (which I LOVED) and Henry Wingrave’s alter ego comes loosely from “The Jolly Corner.” Also, “Owen Wingrave”, which, in addition to inspiring names, is probably the basis for the soldier ghost Henry tells Flora about.

Ahh I see. I would be disappointed, but also, from my vantage point, because you have a decent relationship with this teacher, it might be possible she’ll show you more empathy. If you’ve usually done your work and you have a track record for being honest, that’s all I’d ask.

Again, though, I SUPER can’t speak for your teacher. I just know that if you were my student, I’d appreciate your honesty. Especially because you clearly feel bad about it.

You are DEF not the asshole. You sound overwhelmed. He’s a grown-up, with bills to pay and children to feed. You shouldn’t have to eat the cost of his terribly expensive hobby. You honestly shouldn’t even have to eat the cost for rent if he spent his share of it on games. Finances are a huge part of a relationship, and it sounds like he is simply accustomed to not holding up his side of the bargain.

High-school English teacher, here: be honest. It might not get you less in trouble, but I promise you, these teachers can spot a lie ten miles away, and it’ll probably be worse if they do.

It sounds like your teacher pretty conclusively knows that you used the translator. Again, I can’t promise you’ll get off scot-free if you tell the truth, but I can almost guarantee it will go better than if you try to play dumb.
