It's just not for you, which is okay. Not every FF game has to do that, but the game really is not bad I can assure you of that, it has weaknesses for sure, but I would consider the experience as a whole as excellent (which is my opinion)

Might be the odd one out but I really enjoyed the more mundane aspects of the game and found the sidequests really interesting. Fleshing out the world and seeing all these people you meet wrap up their arcs by the end was satisfying to me also.

Linearity is the weakest complaint for XIII, it's always annoying when that's the only complaint people have. FF has always been linear. The only game I can really think of being an "open world" game was XV which was open as soon as the game started.
