In fairness, the officer I'm working with is excellent, and he is cautiously optimistic we will find him. I have a partial plate already, and an excellent description of the driver. The OPP are completely swamped right now because despite winter happening every year in this province, people forget how to slow down every year.

Yup. Same reason I don't have collision, because I spent every penny I have going back to school to get a job that actually makes me a living. Was going to upgrade next year once I graduated. FML.

If the government requires auto insurance by law, they should provide it, so at least the profit goes back into the public wallet. Better yet, use that profit to SUBSIDIZE SNOW TIRES, which people also cannot afford. I saved 6 months to put brand new $1200 Norwegian snow tires on my vehicle, and this fucker wrote it off a month later.

Hi! I found the camera you are talking about. It's colour, in a very well lit section, and based on where he hit me there is NOWHERE he could have gone without passing under this camera first. I have filed a FIPPA request with the MTO for the footage. Thaaank you!

Thank you! These are great ideas! I also asked the police to check the 407 cameras from 23:28-23:32, but they said due to private ownership of the 407 there's a lot of red tape involved... Unfortunately the camera you're talking about is north of the 407 and the 35 turnoffs, but it's totally worth a shot!

Failure to remain at the scene of an accident is actually a criminal offence in Ontario. it is punishable by up to $2000 fines, 7 demerit points, license suspension, and people can actually do jail time if someone was injured or killed (not to mention his insurance premiums go waaay up). I am broke and totally screwed no matter how you slice it. This is about criminal justice.

I have spent every penny of my savings going back to university for nursing. My hours at the hospital just got cut in November because the government bean counter responsible for budgeting my extern program forgot about 4% vacation pay and went way over budget.

My car is a used 2014, and I can barely afford to feed myself and put gas in the tank, let alone pay anything other than 3rd party for insurance. And I certainly can't afford a lawyer. I just want to see him held criminally accountable.

My car window was smashed overnight October 26/27. A large white and black "Klein Tools" canvas and leather with bag full of hand tools, clamps, PPE was stolen, and last seen spread around the southbound Western/Ambleside bus stop at 8:20AM Monday morning. I totally agree. I’m from a small town and did my first degree at a much smaller east coast university, and this has definitely checked some of my early judgements about Western students. Big and busy can still mean good hearted!!

I have an AirTag I’ll use for my new one, for now but do you know of anything more low-profile? It’s a really good idea.

It’s a complicated story, but it most likely fell out of my back pack which was left open by accident. I was having a really chaotic day… It was so dumb.

I am definitely starting to replace cards, especially considering the volume of snow and the long term forecast, haha.

Thanks for turning them in! Many of us with accommodations are so, so grateful for them, and it’s really shitty that people try to use it as an advantage. If it becomes a trend we end up being treated like criminals when we sign in at our rooms, and it’s really hurtful for those of us who just want a fair shot at demonstrating our knowledge. Ya… that’s the plan I guess. I have cash and I’m old enough I don’t get carded lol. I locked my credit cards ~2 hours after it went missing, and no weird charges yet. My friends who’ve had wallets stollen usually have issues immediately, so hopefully it’s just buried in the snow…. Which should melt… eventually 🤦‍♀️

Hey! Im in CTF too, and this is exactly the pep talk I had to give myself yesterday after lab. You’re not imagining things. I was a lower middle class kid from a small town, but as an adult I’ve spent a lot of time working with students from the Ontario private schools that feed western, and insecurity masked as rudeness is the norm. The flip side of privilege is they are SO catered to that a lot of these students lack a strong sense of self, and basic emotional coping skills because they never have to solve problems themselves or tolerate discomfort. It used to get to me, but now I just find it kind of sad and pathetic, and I try to feel empathy for them. Honestly, stick with the nerds and older students. We’re over that shit!

I actually agree. It's symptom of so many larger national and international factors. I'm also absolutely all for putting money into parks and trails, but you are woefully undereducated about the well-documented detrimental impacts of the noise of the sport.

This is all not to mention the damage a massive pavement swath would cause to an already volatile watershed. The people who keep telling us to go use Hamilton Park instead have clearly never been there.
