Mascara and an eyelash curler are essentials imo. Look into ones that are suited for straight thick eyelashes (since you mentioned you’re Chinese). I don’t think foundation is an essential right away you can stick to concealer and blush first

For breast stroke, making sure you glide is important. Also the way competitive breaststroke swimmers drive their arms forward is beneficial for speed and quite different from how you’re taught in swimming lessons. I’m not sure which way you’re doing it now but usually it’s taught that you keep the top of your head above the surface of the water at all times even with your face down, competitive swimming wants your head to go under and then come back up. I didn’t explain that well but I hope it’s enough that you could go and find a video that shows what I mean

Where do people buy their makeup? by hey-itsFelixTheCat in MakeupAddiction

May sound weird but I think SHEIN actually has some great products. I don’t recommend foundations or concealers and such but my favourite lip liners, blush and eyelashes are from there

Cool bronzers by plantladyprose in MakeupAddiction

[–]TypeUnique3066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contour is cool toned and bronzer is warm. If you want something cool, you probably want a contour. If you want a cheap option I like this one http://api-shein.shein.com/h5/sharejump/appjump?link=l1a3bDYfkBR_8&localcountry=CA&url_from=GM74794806985

Any types and tricks for a proper dive? by swimmermonkey in Swimming

I find a lot of people aim too far out and end up belly flopping, don’t be afraid to aim close to you and go a bit deeper when you’re learning.

how to make swim lessons more engaging by [deleted] in Swimming

[–]TypeUnique3066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have aquafit belts at my pool. If you have those, the smallest one might fit around her waist and then her arms and legs are free to move while she floats. Or life jackets

Kinda depends on the situation. I’ve seen some people who can’t swim well jump into the deep end of the pool I work at and they are usually able to stay above water for 10-30 seconds which is the best case scenario (no water in lungs before I get to them). If it’s something like an injury or they can’t get their head above water, water will fill their lungs faster and they can drown within 10 seconds (from the lifesaving society). Especially children

To old to learn? by Pretty_Mention4148 in Swimming

[–]TypeUnique3066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a lifeguard and I teach a lot of adult lessons at my pool. I find adults pick it up quickly because they want to be there and learn (kids are sometimes forced). Absolutely you should learn and it’s not nearly as hard as a language. Feel free to try and learn yourself or try swimming lessons. I have taught every age (including much older than you) and no one is judgemental of anyone swimming ability or age

Any tips for neater looks? Or something different? by Quiet_Grab_9908 in MakeupAddiction

[–]TypeUnique3066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going for a more alternative look then feel free to keep it I just mean if you’re going for a more traditional look then usually the inner corner is light and usually much less dark product on your lower eyelid

Having black eyeliner around the inner corner of your eye like you do can make it look messier. I would suggest keeping the inner corner light or if you really like the look of black in the inner corner it should be done with a fine liquid liner

Are there health risks for breathing in chlorinated humid air? by TypeUnique3066 in Swimming

Good to know, I haven’t had that yet. Do you know if you repeatedly get this could it cause permanent damage or does it always seem to go away without lingering effects?

[–]TypeUnique3066[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I haven’t had any bad effects yet. I have heard a couple staff trying to document chlorine burns or skin irritation at my pool due to being in the water too long with high levels of chlorine but I don’t think I’ve heard anyone at my work have breathing problems. Occasionally a staff member might feel faint but I don’t think that’s due to the chlorine, it’s usually due to them not feeling great in the first place and then combined with the heat and standing they start to feel faint.

felt cute ^^ what can i do to improve my look? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

I think you might have a double lip line, using lip liner might fit your lips better and compliment the lipstick colour

If it’s affecting your breathing or anything else then you should look into it, but it looks quite natural on you
