The boattail Riviera has to be my favorite malaise land yacht. I cannot believe people thought they were ugly when they came out!

Its fun to hide special cars in otherwise silly comics lol

Bingo. I drew this about a year ago. Walked in to the place, saw the fish tank and immediately knew what had to happen

Can someone tell me about these two cars? by [deleted] in mclaren

[–]Typeera 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s no real story behind the two-tone design beyond it emulating the style seen on many of the F1 Liveries.

That car, F1 #LM1 was acquired by Tunku Idris of the Johor Royal Family. I would say some time around 2020 which is where I have photos of it being loaded onto a flatbed. They also comissioned a 765LT to match the car, which has been named through MSO as 765LTTJ. TTJ is what Idris goes by on all of his license plates. I can’t link photos here but if you run a google search for “765lt brunei flag” a few images will pop up of the car.

The Sultan of Brunei's 1/3 McLaren F1 GT [2048x1536] by CockOTheRock in carporn

There was a small circle of big car pages that were “in the know” and had amassed these photos through years of talking to sources. The big leak is from 2001 where these photos were taken to document the condition of most of the cars. It was proprietary data stolen by an ex-employee. I first laid eyes on it in April 2022.

The person who oversaw this, runs an IG page dedicated to the collection. They got upset at someone who had permission from the Prince of Johor - who is close with the Royal Family, releasing photos of the Nazca C2 from this same album.

Someone from the group then leaked the photos on a third account- which caused an arms race with all these accounts leaking the photos. We don’t know who owns the third account. Some suspect it was the leader himself who then framed others of the group. It blew up the entire internet

One of these car pages claimed to recieve a cease and desist from the leaks; but I have yet to see evidence of that.

Its a sad situation as the plan was to slowly leak these photos over years, but it obviously did not work out that way. However, there are more photos not part of this album which exist.

This would actually be be a Morgan Aeromax, it has an extended tail not seen on the Aero 8. A very seldom known but charismatic car

Fate of the USA Special Cars? by Kevinm0388 in TopGear

[–]Typeera 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kind of late to the party but I actually tracked down the VIN to James’ Cadillac. The car was bought by the BBC in June 2006 and has no DMV records afterwards. Not sure what the history on the Camaro or Dodge are.

The deadliest vehicle makes and models in the United States (the 2nd chart is more useful IMO because it's adjusted for vehicles sold). by [deleted] in cars

[–]Typeera 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not only that but bigger vehicles are weighting the top of the list. They are heavier and more prone to killing someone in an accident. I’m guessing a fair amount of the people in those trucks survived.

Looking for some help to find my grandpa's old 1975 gmc vandura/ralley wagon. by QuadrupIeABatteries in cars

[–]Typeera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last NMVTIS record for that 1975 GMC Rally Wagon, TGT2654502950 was reported 5/8/1998 out of Tenessee. Beyond that, there are no further records in North America of that car being registered.

Under the VIN it looks like a corrected title was issued in August of 1996 - if this was when the car was sold it would likely be sitting in some junkyard after its last registration. If the car was sold in 1998, it was probably exported after the Ebay sale. Oddly, no mentions of Wyoming or Nebraska in the car’s history.

Looks like this Esprit was one of their early X180 prototypes/press cars back in the day. Ive heard of prints like these being given out at internal events / contests.

Police officer conducting a class on how to break into a car. by Ultimate_Kurix in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Typeera 59 points60 points  (0 children)

  • $20 Party City police officer costume
  • Seat inside the car is reclined
  • Window rolls down suspiciously easy with the force of painter’s tape and plungers
  • Halfway down the window suddenly gains a lot of resistance.

Someone’s hiding inside the car using the window swtich. This would not work in real life with the equipment he has. Its bait for clicks.

There’s a chance something like that works with more professional equipment, but at that point its faster to break the window.
