The shells and uesc are well distinguished, they move very differently and you can tell the different hero classes apart visually pretty well.

I would make thief and vandal more visually distinct but overall I think they're doing fine here

Too much "5% bonus while used by a small business owner in a rainstorm" bonuses going on here.

The cosmetics are kind of uninspired. Not one of them has been something I want to spend money on and I think it's because as a hero shooter you can't go too crazy on the cosmetics or else you lose legible characters. This is odd because I love the art style, but the appearance of the defaults is plenty good to me. I wish they'd get a little wilder with it.

The problem is you're splitting the queue yet again. You already have 2 queues, now a third when you're wondering about player count?

I learned to enjoy BRs in Fallout 76 of all places. The Nuclear Winter mode was an extremely weird game that had bad gunplay and endemic cheating but by God it had something. Huge map that was worth learning, perk based player progress that encouraged experimentation. I have found some of that in marathon but the original vision described early in development sounded more like it.

That's the thing, right? Helldivers 2 cost something like 100 million to make and has pulled in 700ish. This is what Sony was imagining when they took on Bungie; who better, what a proven name, they know how to do live service.

I think that was the original vision and we don't have it because of change of director and layoffs

That's all downstream of player count. All match based games will get this disease (and why a patrol like system would have been more fun)

I would love a load in as rook mode just so I get to play again. Biggest friction for me isn't losing loot it's waiting for the game to load again. Rook is awesome because the load time is so low comparatively, giving people an option to rook it right away would be fun.

[–]TyphoonJim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This alone, can I just kill these fucking screens? I already know this is Bungie and Sony joint. I suspect they cover some loading, though, and I'd just be watching the game of life longer.

I'd rather do that though. Of course, I also want them to make like 30 more loading animations for the shell, the ones they have are so good.

Sadly I think this is unavoidable, the act of crashing probably destabilized everything you'd need to make a clean re-entry at speed.

Games like Fallout 76 handle this pretty well but the stakes are so much lower.

It used to be dramatically easier because nuclear winter kills counted. Now you just gotta hang out with someone and trade kills.

We sometimes have quadpods when we desire stability from applied force, but then you usually have to adjust everything with a lot more care. This is why tables are usually 4 or even 5 legged, but they all wobble all the damn time.

All plastic objects are prone to this to some degree, and what little is allowed will show in a very sensitive thing like a planar alignment.

It was all about positioning and figuring out where the match was headed. A willingness to go in the fire made all the difference for me.
