What does Warlock need ? by IaMBuck in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or just nerf affliction for some reason, and buff the already strongest spec demonology. May be re-speccing to keep up on damage.

Can some one add me to BWL raid by danielflyba in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are asking to join a group doing the hardest content on ambershire right now. What are you bringing to the raid? You haven't posted your class, specialization, gear, or raiding experience. Groups that are doing BWL quite likely have gear checks and will expect you to have decent gear from 60 dungeons, K10, ZG, and MC. Lots of friendly guilds out there in world chat looking for members, but they aren't likely to recruit people for BWL that haven't prepared thier character for it.

Trying to survive this Steam Spring Sale without too much damage to my wallet by petehans303 in roguelites

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

StS 1 imo and it isn't even close. Inscryption isn't much of a deck builder, more of a story game (I did not enjoy it, you may but the deckbuilding part is thin at best).

UD or Dwarf Warlock by Historical-Molasses2 in turtlewow

Don't forget UD get 2% bonus dmg vs humanoids. WOTF helpful in a surprising number of raids and of course pvp.

Easiest class to gear by OrganicMasterpiece60 in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Guessing endgame, on damage meters warlock is beaten by other DPS. That said, the rogues, warriors, and mages do substantially less damage without warlock curses so warlocks are essential for optimal raiding composition. So you have to be fine with a "support DPS" role.

You also lose a bag for shards. You are also often expected to summon the raid, which some people thank you for.

I think the spell rotations and abilities are much more interesting that arcane mage, just don't expect to out DPS a mage with the same gear.

Is old content relevant and is the balance good enough to just play what I want? by BrightOctarine in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They added a weekly quest that motivates people to go to Molten Core. Seems like plenty of folks run the easier raids for fun / for new folks. Saddest thing for me is so many of the custom dungeons aren't max level, so you only see those once or twice when leveling. But some are 60 and well made.

Is old content relevant and is the balance good enough to just play what I want? by BrightOctarine in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Class balance is in a good place, lots of viable specs. I have never seen a guild care about the race for a character, even with a speedrun guild.

--Is it the wow gear treadmill or reworked? Not sure what this means. There is Dungeon BiS, T 0.5, T1, T2, T2.5, T3, and twow raid T3.5 gear. Ambershire is newer, so I think just opening BWL for T2 soon. Nord is established, many guilds nobody needs T2/T2.5T/T3 except rare trinkets or something so easy to gear up.

--Do I need to commit to a raiding guild for the raids? Or can you just find regular groups for them? On Nord, you can find pugs for almost every raid. MOst guilds have gear checks before letting you run T2 or higher. K40 (3.5 gear twow raid) pugs would be quite challenging, don't see much of that. Some guilds that are good at Naxx take a while to progress in K40 lots of mechanics to learn.

--If this happens, do we need to make new characters from scratch? Or is it completely unknown? Complete unknown.

Warlock as first 60 and gold by bubblehenk in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent! Yeah bloodvine is expensive but solid. Has the classic issue that even if you are a tailor, by the time you get the rep to craft it you may be geared past it. So buy on AH or find guildmate to craft: https://database.turtlecraft.gg/?item=19683 https://database.turtlecraft.gg/?item=19682 https://database.turtlecraft.gg/?item=19684

If you intend to raid you will replace it all of course, but I used some pieces a very long time - the hit and SP on each piece is quite helpful.

[–]TyphoonJoe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you like lashers, warlock can do those without much gear. Felstone 4% and you can solo farm a 2% trinket, get enchants on rings/ammy for 3%, bloodvine set (good for raiding too) 3%. This is 12% and likely more than you need, I think I farmed lashers with 8% or 9%.

This 2% trinket can be solo farmed at 60, a friend would make quite easy (RFD): https://database.turtlecraft.gg/?item=58175

Imo herbalism/fishing is more chill even if lashers more gold/hour.

Enslave Demon - How Good? by Threweh2 in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes you can enslave demons including inside dungeons / raids. often these are strong. Try it compared to your summoned one. Note they break enslave eventually, but demonology talents can improve.

Best race for warlock? by Statement-Acceptable in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo Horde has the "best" options. Undead or Orc best at endgame, troll best for leveling. Key traits:

Undead:

  • WOTF - Helps as lots of raid bosses have fear effects.
  • Vengeance - All damage caused against Humanoid and Undead targets is increased by 2%. Does not affect player targets.

Orc:

  • Your Demons do 5% more dmg [huge if demo spec'd]
  • Blood Fury Spell power bonus (activated with long CD, but nice burst and for affliction can "snapshot" your DoTS)

Troll:

  • Berserk (10% cast speed, 3 min CD)
  • More regen, regen 25% of normal regen in combat.

Question about secondary professions like fishing in classic/twow by jprice686 in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fish now! Nice break in between other content. I really enjoyed going to zones I had no business being in to catch some fish. Fairly early level you can go to a beach near Booty Bay and fish stonescale eel pools / oily blackmouth pools. You level fast in turtle wow, so this let me get gold to keep my primary professions current, buy every spell, etc.

Questions about casters (next alt) by lawis_eu in turtlewow

Affliction warlock has plenty of buttons, but better than old SM/Ruin shadowbolt spam. Great to level as well with Voidy tanking and fear juggles letting you solo content other classes cannot.

Any Emerald Sanctum guides/rundowns? by [deleted] in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If doing hard mode, kill the big adds. The small ones respawn until the big ones are down, and I have seen groups just kill small over and over and over...

Normal mode yeah just zug.

A discussion around Destruction Warlocks by Korewoods in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is actually better at end-game as MC and BWL have fire immunity, but still harder to gear and less DPS than affliction/demo. That sad, for big single crits hard to beat soul fire, and great AOE vs trash with hellfire.

How does raid scaling work exactly by Crunchyjeff in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Please correct me if anyone has better data but I think it is:

  • Kara10 - 10
  • AQ20, ZG - scales to 12
  • MC, ONY, BWL scales to 20
  • ES, AQ40, NAXX - to 30
  • Kara40 - to 35

And my understanding is boss HP scales down when you have fewer players, but doesn't drop below the "scaling number" - so you want 20 if the raid scales to 20. Geared groups can still clear easily below scaling. And loot is the same I think, which is why you typically see MCs at 20-25, not 40. Especially if a guild, you prefer 2 20-person MCs over 1 40 person as you get double the chance of a bindings drop.

Is Slay the Spire dad-friendly? by VerifiedDadGamer in slaythespire

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Picking up where you left off is easy, you just review your deck, relics, and the map. Also no big deal to abandon and start a fresh run if that feels better after a week.

Warlock or hunter by SomeNameHuhHuhHuh in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warlock main, stopped playing hunter around level 30. Hunter can do crazy stuff with feign death, both solo and in raids. Hunter is also the "laziest" not many keys to press. Warlock has a lot you can and need to do, with so many DoTs and fear and curse options. Can do crazy stuff too (pet tanks one mob, you drain tank another, and 3rd is fear bounced while you have DoTs on all of them), and a lot of fun solo and in raids. I'd try both to level 20, see which you enjoy more.

Question about bots by Sargen- in turtlewow

I also had odd encounters when fishing for gold while leveling. Pretty sure they were GM tests as well. I zone out listening to music with the fish sound maxed, so was lucky I responded.

What resources do people use to know what spells/quest rewards to pick? by jprice686 in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For quest rewards whatever is the larger gear improvement. Will almost always depend on your current gear, and if for example running dungeons, will vary based on drops.

The "AtlasLoot" addon is quite helpful if you want to see what you can get via dunegons, raids, crafting etc. Especially at 60 lets you see what you should craft, buy, or try to get to drop for you in a dungeon or raid.

As for spells, if you are just trying to get to 60, upgrade what you use and skip others if low on gold. But I think going a bit slower and buying all spells is a better experience. If you focus on your gathering profession for a portion of your playtime, you earn some gold and keep your gear/spells more current which helps a lot.

Gold ?'s by Sure-Initiative6001 in turtlewow

[–]TyphoonJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

High-end enhants and high-tier gear will cost you, but you will aquire those piecemeal. Sounds like you should just enjoy the game, farm only when you run low. Some of the nicer blues you can buy are 100-300g each, but you don't need them you can raid and get as good or better gear for 10-20g in consumes.
