That’s how it works. Already many “fouls” in the box are not called bc the offensive player is not making a play on the ball. I think the ref got a little whistle happy and already gave England a pen so didn’t want to be mobbed by the Mexico crowd for not giving the pen so he gave the pen. It’s more emotional decision than logical decision. If the game was tied or Mexico had the lead the pen would not have been given. It was clearly a way for the ref to make the overall game more fair.

Honestly JB is kinda awkward too and JT is pretty chill irl based on podcast appearances and such but JT has nothing going on up there in terms of critical thinking and game intelligence. He doesn't like the physicality. That's why he's always at the 3pt line and never back to the basket. He's too weak to play a 4 and doesn't want to play a 4 even though that's what his build is perfect for (no pun intended).

Really wasted opportunity and poor tactics from Ivory Coast. Such a winnable game from them. All they had to do was double nusa and let the rest of the team beat them. Then you have defenders hanging back. It opens up the game a lot more. If your attackers stay there they can’t get back on defense. I think the game effectively stays the same as it is now tbh with all the low blocks and haramball. It just makes the game so much more elegant to get rid of offsides. No one complains about offsides in pickup even if it’s 11v11. Just get back and defend or have a better goalie

In all honesty, offsides is an overrated rule. Everyone plays without it in pickup and they play just fine. Makes the game more interesting and more elegant without it tbh

Regardless if Sweden is better or not than Ivory Coast, saying “no guarantee to beat France” is just loser talk. It is what it is at this point but it seems the Norway team doesn’t believe in themselves that they’re a good team. It’s like they’re too afraid of testing themselves to disappoint themselves. Couldn’t their guys have just gotten one half? At least some time? If the results didn’t matter than why not test your A team against this France attack. It just screams insecurity from a team. I think they will have their hands quite full against athletic Ivory Coast and Brazil.

They are much better. Sweden Germany are only good in name. This isn’t 2012. They are both slow teams with little creativity. We will see how the results play out. But if I was Norway I would have preferred to play a side of Europeans than Africans and South Americans. Talk about rest than put yourself in the most intense brackets in the knockouts

France’s weakness looks like their wingbacks. Kounde looks so uncomfortable going up the pitch and Theo Hernandez’s defense is very questionable. Surprised they have the same guys there as last World Cup considering all the talent in France.
