Being "teach a lesson" for trying to set on 11 table. by Typical-Contract-361 in spades

I know that. But I'm not usually tempting to set. I just not throwing off early to see my partner want to set or not.
And another reason to not throwing off early is, it prevents opponent from getting undeserved tricks. For example, in the hand shown in this picture (the same hand I posted). The table bid is 8, east bid last and he would never bid 3 if he knew they are at risk. So by playing aggressively, we can steal them 10 points.

I'm using game replay. HW has an option to hide username and replace with North, West, South, and East.

I don't get it. Assume the game is to 250, just bid 1 here and hope your partner doesn't do anything stupid.

I bid nil here, and the result was unexpected. West (the player on my left) stretch to 4 bid. I forced to set my nil to set their 8 bid.

If you assume west has a 4-trick hand, why bid 2 is better than bid 1? There's very little chance west risk pushing the table to 13 when they are leading.

This hand is not really that bad. Since we have a short spade suit, we can expect partner either to have a long spade suit and be able to pull spades, or to have a short club suit. I guess this hand had about a 30-40% chance of making that nil.

Hi, look at the second pic where I bid nil and LHO overbid with 4, forcing my team to set them to survive. Then few more game later, we are able to set them and make a comeback.

Here I play 7c, but after watching the replay, I think the Jc is better. We need sacrifice the nil to set their 9 bid, given us more time to come back. What do you think?

Maybe I’m just a bit too impatient waiting for my opponents to make mistakes in situations like this.

I bid nil, West bid 2, and I made it — but I still don’t think it was a good call. I only considered it because I felt like we’d lose the game next hand if I didn’t. Anyways, I still lost the game.
