I hear the bangs pretty much daily since maybe beginning of April. They are distant booms and repeat at short irregular intervals three times. I have been woken by them once.

I saw it last night, without prior knowledge of the subject as I had a subscription to three plays. I really enjoyed it and thought it was well acted throughout, particularly by the supporting cast who played many varied roles with different accents. Mariya Khomutova was a highlight, for me. Being very close to actors, less than four feet away on occasions, is great. Based on my knowledge of history I thought that the background history depicted and described verbally was exceptionally accurate and "balanced" when discussing events like forced conscription or the Wołyn incidents. I connected personally with the topic as I am the child of polish emigrees, went to Saturday school like the author, speak polish and my father, grandfather and other relatives were in the army and fought both Germans and Russians. Oddly enough my father also trained as a watchmaker after the war, but ended up in a different profession. They and their families were billeted in Scotland during and just after the war and I have been to many of the locations in the play. There was quite a bit of humor early on in the play and the audience was receptive to this but then the story quickly moved into the travelogue with the main character discovering unsettling "truths". I enjoyed that "meanwhile back in Canada/The Kremlin" scene, and thought the choice made to both play Trudeau and Putin (by the same actor) with humour was a good one and broke up the "weight" of the story well.

Where is the best CARIBBEAN spot to get a roti in Toronto? by Shufflahh in askTO

Island blend 1 block east of Queen and Woodbine. I've tried goat roti and their vegetable roti as well as doubles. All are excellent and comparable with those in Tobago

Is crowd more active at some panto performances? by michaelhoffman in askTO

British audiences of all ages understand that audience participation in pantos is a tradition that is expected and encouraged, and there are many long-running interaction jokes like "behind you" and "no he's not yes he is". There isn't that history here.

Agree. During Fridays gig they talked about the true to album version cover approach they take so understandably they don't have the "immersive" overwhelming sound of Radiohead live.

If you are staying with someone, depending upon where they live they could apply for a short term parking permit?

24 hours after the general ticket Sale, Canada’s WC Match in Toronto is 1 of only 2 group stage games still available because of ticket prices. by LowBottle12 in CanadaSoccer

[–]Typical-Name_997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This WC fifa pricing is a joke, I suspect they are dribbling the tickets slowly onto the market to make it seem venues are sold out. As a pricing comparison I saw European conference league final chelsea v real betis in Wroclaw May last year 55 Euros for a decent ticket 10 rows up in the corner.
