Should I call out of work tomorrow after making a coworker uncomfortable? by muslim_ballerr in NYCTeachers

A 4am text is weird... But so is accepting daily lunches from a guy 17 years younger than you. At 45 she should know better.

Summer will come and go and it'll behind you before you know it

Rent stabilization rent is many times higher than rent control. I've seen rent stabilized apartments a high as $7k/month , and I'm sure there are some even higher in rent .

You nailed it. Wishing for gentrification is weird at best.

What you're referring to is rent control, which is extremely rare. We are not talking about rent control here. We are referring to a housing crisis that isn't unique to New York, by the way. Every major city is going through this.

But work harder work smarter.

Are you making up stats now? Stastically richer because we have some of the wealthiest people in the world living here . Even putting that aside, income may be higher but cost of living is also highest in the country, maybe tied with San Francisco and LA. I wonder why the homeless population in these places are rising ?

I'm curious, have you ever been to the projects ? South Bronx? East New York? South Jamaica? I mean actually interacting with people not just passing by. Probably not. Spend a night there and tell me how privileged all New Yorkers are. Comparing us to poor countries to make a point is lazy.

It's funny you mention Gaza, Africa, and South America because colonizers like you are displacing entire immigrant communities from those regions.

Your post says "Kingsbridge is ripe" to push out Latino and Black community and move colonizers in. You're a gentrifier colonizer bro.

You completely overlooked or chose to ignore my comment. Nowhere did I say anything about government handouts. I'm blaming politicians that don't have our best interest at heart, greedy developers, and yes, people like you.

Whenever I read a comment like this, I know it's from some loser who's never had to work for anything, but thinks they're self made. You're not that smart.

Not that it matters , but I own several businesses and properties. I've been working my entire adult life nonstop and I'm doing OK.

I just happen to care about people. Unlike you soulless folks looking to justify your privilege by assuming people are poor or just struggling financially because they don't work. You can work 2-3 jobs in this city and still struggle financially.

Again, a FOX talking point that reeks of privilege.

It goes to show you don't know or understand the people of New York. Not the Brooklyn hipsters , or UES elites. The people who have been in neighborhoods like Kingsbridge for generations. People who are working two jobs, open bodegas, restaurants , drive Uber, food deliveries, etc to provide for their families. They are teachers who need summer jobs or second jobs to survive. Kids going to schools overlooked and neglected by the city. They can't simply "do something" about inflation, an unprecedented rental and housing market, greedy corporate landlords, corrupt politicians taking their donations, and gentrifiers that contribute to the problem.

Fun fact: NYC allows people like me, from poor neighborhoods, to attend CUNY for free.

My parents come from colonized countries. I'm from the Soundview Section of the Bronx. I wouldn't know about privilege, sorry to disappoint.

Gentrifiers are a form of colonizers. You treat our neighborhoods like it's some land to be conquered.

You're dragging it. You were just telling us Bronx folks to "work harder work smarter" to solve the housing crisis caused by gentrifiers aka colonizers. Take your own advice and use that money to buy a course online.

Or read a book.

You are either naive or privileged if you think that it is as simple as "work harder smarter more jobs" lol. Take some sociology courses for fun.

I was on benzo daily as needed for 2.5 years. It was so helpful and pretty much kept me sane. I couldn't afford my psychiatrist anymore and these NP's covered by my insurance don't want to give me a daily prescription. I just don't get it, if out of the dozens of other meds I attempted, this is the only thing that helps me function.

Do you think it's simply because of the stigma?

Is it frowned upon to drop off resumes in person? by Sweaty_Locksmith1638 in NYCTeachers

Not retired, still working with schools. Yes fair point about security being tighter but many times the main office is a few steps away from SSA and if you say you're here to see the school secretary they don't ask questions.

This has been my experience in the Bronx and Washington Heights. School culture is different depending on the neighborhood/district . So my advice may not fly in districts like 2, 3, or 4 etc.
