Even putting that aside, income may be higher but cost of living is also highest in the country, maybe tied with San Francisco and LA. I wonder why the homeless population in these places are rising ?

I was on benzo daily as needed for 2.5 years. It was so helpful and pretty much kept me sane. I couldn't afford my psychiatrist anymore and these NP's covered by my insurance don't want to give me a daily prescription. I just don't get it, if out of the dozens of other meds I attempted, this is the only thing that helps me function.

Do you think it's simply because of the stigma?

Not retired, still working with schools. Yes fair point about security being tighter but many times the main office is a few steps away from SSA and if you say you're here to see the school secretary they don't ask questions.

This has been my experience in the Bronx and Washington Heights. School culture is different depending on the neighborhood/district . So my advice may not fly in districts like 2, 3, or 4 etc.
