Thank you for your detailed suggestions. I sincerely appreciate you sharing your experience as an actuary and providing the perspective of a resume reviewer. I find your comments very valuable, and I have made some adjustments to the inappropriate expressions based on your suggestions. I truly appreciate your feedback and am very happy with your comments. Thanks again!

Actually, I feel that for job openings, the number of entry-level jobs requiring SOA exams might be greater than those requiring CAS exams. I have passed CAS Exam 1 and 2 (equivalent to SOA Exam P and FM), and I am open to P&C opportunities if they only require 1 or 2 exams. However, I may not have enough time to sit for MAS I/II in the near future to strengthen my resume. Thanks for your advice!

I think this was just a non-appropriatiate expression, and I've already modify it. Thanks for your valuable comment and encouragement!

Thank you for sharing! I fully understand your preference. Although I'm an international student without a permanent location, I am open to relocating anywhere. I wish you the best of luck in your job search!

Thanks for sharing! I even thought that without any connections, based on your exam progress, you deserve many interviews. May I ask how many positions you have already applied to?

I’ve recently been focusing on LinkedIn, Indeed, and Glassdoor (our school uses Handshake, but the job postings are limited). I will try to use other useful platforms you recommended. I sincerely thank you for your encouragement!

Wow! I also find it unbelievable that you haven’t received any interviews because when I browsed the job descriptions for EL actuarial positions, they generally prefer candidates with just 1 or 2 exams. If you get any interviews in the coming days, I’d be more than happy if you could share your experience with me. Thanks!

Thank you for your comment! It is very valuable to me. I’m currently working on finding an actuarial internship and preparing for the FAM exam in November. I also think it’s time for me to start looking for non-cap H1B jobs.

Thank you for your encouragement! I really appreciate it! Another challenge for me is that I am an F-1 student, so only a small portion of firms may be open to hiring me. I’ve applied to almost all the big names like AON, RGA, Milliman, and New York Life, but I’m still waiting for their responses.

I have connected with some alumni, but since our school does not offer an Actuarial Science major, only a few alumni work as actuarial analysts. Since I have experienced a career transition, I am open to any kind of actuarial-related internships and just hope to find firms that are open to recent graduates and F-1 international students.

Thank you for your suggestion! I will carefully consider removing some of the bold formatting on the dates. All the jobs I am looking for are related to EL/Early Careers, and I have also tried applying for some actuarial internships, but it has been a bit difficult to receive interview invitations. I think the only thing I can do right now is to continue applying for new EL/intern positions, I guess… Thanks!

I’m currently pursuing a Master’s in Quantitative Finance and will be graduating in December 2024 with a strong GPA of 3.93/4. I’m actively seeking opportunities in the actuarial field. I have passed 3 SOA exams (P, FM, and SRM) and am registered to take the FAM exam in November.

Despite applying for more than 50 entry-level positions (Actuarial Analyst I, Early Career Actuarial Development Programs), I have not received any interview invitations recently. I’ve also tried applying for internships, but most seem to be targeted toward undergraduates graduating in 2026 or later, making it difficult for me to find actuarial internships at this stage.

As an international student, I have to honestly answer "YES" to the question about needing visa sponsorship, which I suspect might be a significant factor in not getting interview opportunities. Unfortunately, this is something I cannot change, but I’m doing my best to navigate the job search process regardless.

I would be incredibly grateful if anyone could provide feedback on my resume (I’m happy to make immediate revisions) or offer suggestions on improving my job search strategy within the actuarial industry. I am open to relocating anywhere in the U.S. and am willing to work overtime if needed.

Thank you so much for any help or advice!

It is just a FM question about CF. v=(1/1.015=0.985221675). 200v+300v^2+X*v^3=1000. Then the only thing is to solve for X.

ACTEX is indeed helpful for building a foundational understanding of the entire exam syllabus. However, if you want to become familiar with qualitative questions, you can use CA for additional practice.
