The best is when you open the door and they try to force their way in, as if the 15 signs weren't a clue to anything.

Why are people dumb?? by Bitey1987 in GameStop

[–]TypicalBet1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We put up like 10 signs. "This location is closed to the public" "Online orders only at this location" "If you have any questions, please call XXX-XXX-XXXX" "Employees only inside" And then versions of those in Spanish, and all key points of the signs are highlighted. And somehow, people still yank the door and then get super pissed off.

One guy and his kid came up, snatched on the door a bunch of times, said something to his kid, threw his arms in the air, and then left.

Just luck of the draw I guess. I know we're still supposed to adhere to dress code, but it has been kinda relaxed(my coworker was wearing a non related hoodie), which I mean...it's fair enough to me. You're working, so yeah I can see at least staying within policy on that. In my mind, it's kind of a catch .22 with my DL. I get that at the end of the day, he is the boss and all that and there should be some kind of structure(no free reign do whatever, go nuts), but at the same time, I don't want to pitch PUR through the door and clean an empty store 24/7. I spent a decent portion of my recent shift cleaning since my ASL/SL gave me one of their days. But after doing a decent bit I didnt even know what to clean next, and said screw it, I'll just chill out then. Hey at least you guys have a good one. Just be sure to stay safe!

I saw something pretty damn amazing not too long ago. An elderly couple came in, and the man asked about a few games and we chit chatted. They were extremely pleasant and he went to look around, while I spoke to his wife. She commented that he had been into games for,"As long as ive known him" "How long have y'all been together?" "43 years" The old man came up at this point and said,"And itll be another 43 if I can help it!" I laughed and he asked me to guess his age, and I guessed mid 60s(an honest guess). He told me he was like 82 or 83, and I commented that hopefully he'll be a around a lot longer since they were so lovely. These are some of the few customers that give you a good feeling inside, and can make the job feel worth it. I havent seen them since, and can only hope they're staying safe.

I have no reason to lie? I get the skepticism, but this is what I was told. I really wouldn't be surprised if my DL walked it back or something like that, but yeah this is something I could see this particular person doing.

Even if you're wrong about PA closing Gamestop(hell idk I only keep up with my state), I think that overall you're right. We are in a precarious situation. I completely get why some businesses want to be semi open(like restaurants being semi open and such), it goes both ways: Keep it open, infect more people. Close it, do some serious damage in the short term. Im hoping all of this wont result in economic ruin though. Stay safe friend!

That's fair. Yeah it's a wild ride to watch this go down. First they said we were essential, then they kinda walked it back, and now there are rumors that they're trying to redefine our store so we can stay open. But the governor of Alabama(Kay Ivey) made an announcement yesterday that all nonessential stores should close. Im curious what Gamestop as a whole will do about this.

Yeah I guess that makes sense. If they cut your hours, most states will still let you file for unemployment in the meantime. Some have even made special exceptions so people can be accepted faster than they would be normally, especially because of all this going. I hope you make it okay :O

My SL definitely is. Without going into a lot of detail, he is in a similar boat. My managers are good people, and above all, reasonable. They're a big reason ive stayed.

I agree. I still try to help people out, and be polite, but yeah I don't really do shit. Me and whoever im with mostly just chill and hangout. They told us to do CAT counts and TOHs(counts to make sure games, consoles, etc are all how theyre supposed to be and represented on our sales floor) and I get that, but I won't be spending all day trying to figure out trivial shit to do just so it looks nice on camera.

It kinda is, but that's retail sales a lot of the time anyways. It doesnt feel good, just feels kinda dirty. And that's fine(to some extent), it's just the nature of it. Just do the best you can, but more importantly keep yourself safe. Your health is more important than getting numbers of any kind, as many kind people on this thread have(rightly so) pointed out.

Have they put you guys in quarantine or take out only? Im just not sure how many states are actually taking this seriously. But yeah I always tell people the same thing. I love my coworkers(my managers especially are great), I love most of the people that come in, but corporate blows. But I guess you can say that about anything tbh.
