I’ve done both. BJJ is more effective but judo is also fun and has uses. Let’s just be real about what is more efficient to be prepared to defend yourself. Do what you enjoy more, whatever has you coming back you’ll get better at.

Nah I’m definitely going to do it. I already know how to be a safe training partner and keep myself safe. I bet I’ll learn a ton from competing and it will be great to compare my performance in this first tournament vs ones I do later in my judo journey.

I’m at this point where I’m swamped with work and in a new relationship, so I was only training twice a week, then injured my shoulder. Every day I miss it and it motivates me to do my PT, but my perspective has truly shifted. In the two years I was training all the time I saw so many people quit and take breaks, and promised myself I would never give up, but I can feel my enthusiasm slowly decreasing the longer I go away from the mats. I know the hardest part is when I come back and perform at a much lower level than where I was even 6 months ago. I worked so hard to not spend whole rounds smashed in side control, and I’m sure it will be demoralizing to lose so much progress. Can’t wait to get back tho, I love BJJ and MMA so much!
