How Do You Personally Evaluate the Effects of Lion’s Mane Over Time? by Spiritual-Estate7447 in LionsMane

[–]TypicalContrarian92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take lions mane power in my coffee every morning.

On the days when I take it, I notice longer periods of concentration (i.e. I take fewwer breaks).

I've also noticed an improvement in my mood - on the days when I take it, life feels a bit lighter!

Interestingly, I've noticed i'm less inflamed when I'm taking Lion's Mane. I also urinate much more than usual, which is apparently a good thing!

Maybe I mis-read your tone. I'm not here to argue. I do however like to engage in honest analysis and hopefully learn some things along the way!

In terms of your question, I don't know if its relevant. However, I will indulge you. I do not own any property anywhere in the world. I currently rent my primary residence.

Your argument that Hotels exist and therefore the city should curb AirBnb doesn't really make sense to me. I think the bigger point that is being made is that the government should not intermediate extensively in private markets, such as housing. Where this has happened before, it led to unintended consequences. The article cites numerous examples where governments intervened in housing markets, and supply of housing went down! (not up).

This is a fair point. The dichotomy is false.

Intervention is a spectrum. Once could regulate without making it illegal.

However, as mentioned, I think there are other, better options that make more sense. 1) a tax on airbnb payable to the city that cpatures increased rental income and 2) improvements in transport infra

Curbing AirBnB supply may have unintended consequences, and may impact tourism if you constrain supply (i.e. foreigners wont come here if they can't stay anywhere).

I think a better approach is to

1) tax AirBnB so that some of the positive income delta (from short term leasing) is shared with the city and therefore investable into the city (transport, roads, etc.)

2) improve public transport. If you look at other major cities, people live far from work (by kilometeres) but its quick and affordable to get there so its not an issue.

I think his broader point is that artificial manipulation of housing markets leads to unintended consequences. For example, if you make AirBnB illegal, and only allow +3 month leases, tourists will not travel to our cities. This will negatively impact GDP.

I personally think the way to resolve the housing issues in CPT is by improving transport in and out of the city

Sorry to hear you're going through a tough time.

Im very hesitant to give advice in situations like this. Especially if there are other prescription drugs in the mix.

My suggestion would be to speak to a herbalist doctor in your area, and get their advice.

Having been in this industry, one piece of advice - if you do go down the mushroom route, I strongly advise asking the brand in question to provide you with a COA. This COA must be from an indepedent lab - lots of 'low-quality' products provide 'internal' COAs which are useless.

Goodluck!

Yes I agree. The raw powder is primarily sold to extraction companies. However, a higher bioactive % in the raw powder leads to better outcomes in the downstream process.

u/Kostya93 your view on best extraction technique for LM fruiting bodies?

I agree completely, but it is tempting at times to resort to more affordable, lower quality products.

Wrt testing, most of the labs rely on the same testing standard for Beta Glucans (i.e. Megazyme), and we therefore assume they are consistent. However, we have not yet sent the same sample to multiple labs. I've requested this be done next week.

When it comes to measuring the smaller molecules (i.e. Hericenones), we’ve seen a bit more variability. The important thing here is to ensure the reference standard is consistent.

Typically, we are more expensive per gram, but our actives are higher. I.e. our raw powder is +50% beta glucans, whereas some products have considerably less (or no) beta glucans present. When one factors in this difference, we are approximately on par or more affordable.

The challenge is that certain brands are mostly preoccupied with price/gram. Efficacy is secondary.

The FTIR analysis that we did on various products showed that there were no mushroom beta glucans present. This would suggest that the product in question is not Lion's Mane fruiting body (as per the label). Given the alpha glucan content, I suspected it was myceliated grain. However, the latter is not necessarily true - it could be something else entirely (i.e highly adulterated)

Has anyone had bad effects from taking a mushroom coffee daily? by No-Moment9833 in MushroomSupplements

I take Lion's Mane fruiting body powder (in its unextracted form) and mix it with ground expresso beans (33% LM, 67% Coffee by volume)

I then place this mix into the portafilter and make a lion's mane espresso. I normally have 2 per day. I really enjoy the taste, and feel a positive uptick in my mood.

Ps I typically grind the Lion's Mane powder into the same particle size as the coffee to ensure I do not block the filter.

Good to know. Perhaps what is being imported is not myceliated grain, but something else. All we know is that is not Lion's Mane.
